Yes, my buddy knew him from some camp. We were at an all-star game of CT best high schoolers at the time. Edmund's senior year of high school, Will Solomon, Tip Vinson.

Bobby Moore was a junior and the best guy on the court but he hadn't dunked yet in the game. We all yell out to him on the sideline that he needs to dunk during the game. He laughs at us and then like 2 possessions later he wraps the ball around the defender bounces it off the backboard and dunks it. Most ridiculous thing I've seen a player do in a game.

It's a real shame he never got it together and played in college.
Victor Maldonado was another one who could have been a great college player but lost his way. Ended up in prison.

Watched him drop 35 in a state tourney game as a freshman at East Catholic. Then he got kicked out of East, went to MHS and then jail.

Notre Dame of West Haven beat St. Bernard 68-55 to win back to back state titles.
Toure with 27 pts. and.....20 rebounds (impressive...) and made 2 of 4 three pointers. Here's his stats. Lock him up Dan Hurley!

I'll post my thoughts tomorrow. Those stats are basically right. He had 18 rebounds and was 2/3 from deep. The ref had his hands down on one but scorekeeper didn't see.

Not much new if you've been paying attention. Freak athlete, physically imposing. Face guarded and doubled all game. Played hard bell to bell--even up late. Dribbles with both hands. Very strong for his weight. Has a nice mid-range game but it didnt fall today

Shot well today. Mostly good decisions. Very calm and focused but did go nuts when someone got T'd up for chirping at him.

Good triple threat footwork. Holds tje ball too long sometimes.

Are you sure it’s back to back? Didn’t St. B’s win last year?

I have a pretty good story about the St. B’s coach (an NFA grad) and the last 2 hiring cycles for NFA’s varsity boys’ job ‍♂️

  • 11/13 from 3 in warm-ups. Probably something like 18/20 from FT line.
  • Great looking FT in warm-ups. Release is consistent. He used to have a hitch in his hips and has totally dropped that. Probably why we've seen the jump from 65% or so to closer to 80%+.
  • You can see even in warm-up drills he's lacking in some defensive fundamentals. because he's never had to learn them. Funky posture and does some weird stuff with his hands.
  • I can see why his 3-point shot is inconsistent when sitting up close. His lower body mechanics are nice, but he does some stuff with how he releases. He kind of flatpalms the ball and slaps it away from him (idk how else to explain it). Doesn't comfortably spread his fingers... looks like a kid whose hands grew a bunch. He does have consistent hand placement on the ball though.
  • Timing, balance and release on his mid-range turnarounds and pull-ups is just absolutely phenomenal.
  • Being face-guarded the whole game and double-teamed every time he touches the ball. Opponent is very physical.
  • 6'6 195lbs sounds about right. Long arms, big hands and feet.
  • Far and away the best player on the court atlhetically and it's not close. I would not call him the most skilled. Stronger, faster, more vertical, more violent than everyone else on the court by a country mile. He would be an elite athlete even at a powerhouse like Brewster or LuHi.
  • He really stays focused and calm most of the time. Doesn't yap or complain. The exception was when his defender pushed him down and started yapping, and pulled a T. Abdou was screaming and waving his arms to the crowd... fun to see.
  • Momentum player. And I think this is true historically too... He tends to make big plays when his team is on a run. Not as much a "make something out of nothing" guy.
  • Can drive both directions, and does finish with both even though he favors the strong side.
  • Spends too much time with his head down jab-stepping. Needs to be coached out of that... since I first watched him 18 months ago, I've been complaining about that.
  • Maybe one or two dunks today. No rim rockers.
  • I think all he scored were FTs, layups and 3s. I believe both misses from 2 were mid-range pull-ups. Hurley loves all that, I'm sure.
  • Loved to see him hustling and diving on the floor trying to get a kid who didn't score the ball for an assist late in the game. Up 20 but still making the right play.
  • Has a spin move in the lane in his bag. That's newer to his bag
  • Footwork/timing on screens with and without the ball needs work.
  • Very physical when he gets an angle going to the rim. Allows him to draw a ton of fouls.
  • Should use shot and pass fakes more

You had me at “more violent than everyone else on the court by a country mile.” :)

Had he recovered from the injury his coach referred to in his post game interview after semis or was he still slowed down by it? In other words-Could you tell that he was at 100%?

That was a huge exaggeration to begin with. He had a brace on and was moving fine at his worst. No limp at all.

He was at 100% or close to it yesterday.

Having seen him 5 times in last 2 years(unfortunately missed yesterday’s game)
And your comments about the mid range, and the pull up are Spot on
Re 3 point shooting I agree but can hit
The wide open 3 when he has time and not contested and well not the strength of his game it will not be a liability on the college level
Also believe that his upside given his age(16)
Athleticism great attitude and disposition is very
High
He’s certainly good enough to play at the highest level of college basketball and hopefully he will choose Uconn

Unless Toure goes to prep
I think he either stays at Notre Dame West Haven or goes to Brewster. I don't really see the point in leaving. He loves being home, loves it at his school, can become one of the most accomplished Connecticut high school players ever, and doesn't need to make a jump for his college/NBA career.

He needs to compete vs better competition. At the Ciac level, he is barely challenged and often times seems disengaged. If he wants to have immediate impact at a level where kids are equally athletic, strong , and in some ways quicker than he is, then he needs more of a challange. dont know if it’s true nut I heard that only three kids in ct public high schools have d1 offers. That’s not good enough.

He'll get good competition level with Expressions. Not moving up might affect his development a bit, but I don't think it's anything to worry about. Talent is talent.

His head's above the rim on dunks and he has a nice looking shot. He'll be just fine.

Imho u r over stating the value of prep school for a five star player
he’s played against good competition internationally, and the AAU season
His work with a personal trainer refining his game is probably more important than what he does in his next high school season the coach recently stated that they will be playing in two or three high-level tournaments against national competition next year
I also think there’s something important to be playing in front of crowds where there’s a real pressure to win
That’s generally not present at the prep school level
