Age is a marginal parameter. More important are the improper power relationships involved. Age can contribute to that but it is the power, control, and dominance issues that are the crux of the matter

That is why teacher/student, pastor/parishioner, counselor/client, etc. etc. are all strongly controlled by both law and professional boards.

I do genealogy as a hobby. I have pored over thousands of birth records and court documents - from the 17th and 18th century. I think a lot of people might be surprised at the number of illegitimate births during that period. Even here in puritanical New England there are many court records with fines levied for adultery and support payments for children born out of wedlock. Even more interesting are the number of early births - children born shortly after marriage.

However, it was nothing approaching the out of wedlock birth rates seen today.
Percentage wise (as opposed to absolute numbers) the most promiscuous era as defined by out of wedlock births was the 1890's. The second most was the early history of the United States. The 60's and 70's was third. That is until this last decade. But today's numbers are skewed because a lot of couples are having children and not formalizing their relationship with marriage. Also a lot of older women with careers, have decided to have children and forgo a relationship. And then there are gay partners having children without a marriage certificate. These three factors were severely discouraged in those three decades. I'm wondering how much a factor these three relatively new social changes in attitude impact the numbers.

Very true and also something that The young lady's parents need to be aware of. Although it is very exciting to consider that your daughter could be playing on a traveling team, parents certainly need to be aware of the risk of having her outside of parental supervision and the potential for this type of situation to occur.
