Both the men's and women's UConn soccer teams for were picked to finish first in the AAC preseason polls. Curiously enough, in both polls there were other teams that had more first place votes than UConn, but in both cases both squads ended up with the most points in the polls.

The male Huskies are going to have a rather young team on the pitch this season if you go by who started the preseason game against Rider on Sunday night. Ray Reid started 5 newcomers (4 freshmen and 1 junior) to go along with four returning sophomores and two returning juniors. I'm guessing part time starters from last year, seniors Nicolas Zuniga and Tyler Leeman will get some playing time as well, but given the results of the soccer poll and the youth of this team, it will be interesting to see things develop for the Huskies, including where the goal scoring ends up coming from.
