Watching the Cinci-UCF game and they did a segment on the 'first' conference POY. Narrowed it down to Kilpatrick, Smith, and Shabazz. Both announcers pointed to Bazz's ability to make his teammates better as the tipping point between the three. A lot of conference to be played, but its nice to see not only the award recognition, but the acknowledgement of his oft overlooked ability to get his teammates a shot.

Side note: does it bother anyone when people say Napier is "pushing this UConn team to new heights?" Yes Shabazz puts us on our back, but I feel that without him and without Kilpatrick (and maybe Russ), we would be a better team.

Yea I just saw that...yikes. What I meant to say was that if you took away Bazz, Russ and Kilpatrick from their teams, I think we'd have the better team of those three. So while Bazz has been amazing, our supporting class doesn't get enough credit and its too often seen as Bazz v. the world.

Russ won the preseason right? Coaches will pick him at the end of the year as not look like idiots. Kinda like last year when KO missed coach of the year because they were way off in their prediction of where Georgetown finished.

I don't know Cincy is better defnsively, and Louisville full court pressure obliterates us, and none of our guys are consitent.

We would have 10 losses without Shabazz. Maybe more. I don't think you can over estimate his importance to this team.
