AAC Bowl Line-Up | The Boneyard

AAC Bowl Line-Up

We should win most of these P5 matchups. UCF matches up much better against LSU than they would against OSU or Georgia IMO

UConn will be back bowling again.
Both Temple and Cincinnati have been upper tier in the AAC this year and their hard-nosed identities are similar to how UConn typically wins when things are going right.

.-.
UCF without Milton - just don't know if their backup can put up enough against LSU to win. We'll see.

Nice collection of matchups for the other AAC bowl teams.

Their backup may very well be the starter next season. He played phenomenally against Memphis. Was very surprised myself.

Maybe next year, UConn will be bowling too,
Maybe. Vanishingly small probability next year though. Current discussion is centered on whether 2, 3, or 4 wins are more likely.

Yup. Especially when considering that perhaps the 3 best teams in the AAC next season are all in the East; UCF, Cincy, Temple (we play all 3 on the road).

Besides that, we draw Houston this year and play two Big Ten teams OOC, it also doesn't help to have the worst roster in FBS. This is a 2-10 football team if we can manage to upset UMass at Gillette.

7 bowls...that IS a big deal. Those saying UConn needs a better conference....this one is not bad. When they compete here and sell a few more seats, THEN we can have the conversation.

You forgot the "and make at least another $10 mill/year from TV contract" part.

I would say that there is as much chance of that as UConn being in the football final four.

So you're saying that there is as much chance for UConn to go 6-6 as there is for UConn to go 13-0???

You don't work in Vegas, do you?

Actually he does. He's just rounding to the nearest percentage integer. In this case that would be zero.

All of those games seem pretty winnable. Obviously the UCF game is by far the most important, but if you want to make a statement, this is it.

The payout to the teams is around 12 million dollars which goes to the teams AND the conference. THAT is why we are not dropping football.

That and UConn has invested a couple hundred million into the program.

Even if UConn got a million of that (which they won't after uncovered expenses which we know can be high) it will be a drop in the bucket in the overall scheme of things.

What idiot didn't schedule Tulane vs Louisiana for the Walk-On's Independence Bowl. I guess it's a bigger on than AutoNation, but the location would be ideal.

Everybody else but UCF got a solid location. Memphis in Birmingham, Houston in Fort Worth, Cinci in MD (although better for VT), USF him in Tampa.

These are all fantastic matchups. USF and Houston should be pretty well represented in the stands too. I love Temple and UC in their games. Bowl games are so difficult to forecast - who is going to play, who will play hard, who is going to coach, etc - but Temple and UC match up so well against Duke and Virginia Tech.

All in all, I think the AAC will post another winning bowl season. I'm a little nervous about our undefeated record in NY6 bowls with a backup QB. LSU's defense is legit and I think their run game will be too physical for UCF's D front. Hope I'm wrong.

No, the bowl activity also adds donor interest. Right now not for Uconn....that is part of the process. 1 million? Isn't that RE's annual salary?

There should be an American Standard Bowl (aka, the Toilet Bowl). A match up between the worst offensive team and the worst defensive team in the country. To determine who is the scholito-est team in the nation.

Maybe next year HCRE2.0 can do the double - worse offense and defense, then play ourselves to see who is worst.

which we will not have this year! Liked to see the players in April before the season started but this year we don’t get a sneak peek
