As of right now, Moriah has 455 assists. Her very next assist will tie her for 13th among UConn players, right alongside none other than Shea Ralph.

Of course, the UConn record is 648 assists, held by Diana Taurasi. That's a pretty intimidating record...but it's entirely untouchable.

Mo is now exactly 193 assists away from 648. If UConn plays a full 39-game season in 2015-16, she'd need to average five assists a game to pass Diana. That wouldn't be easy at all, but Mo did have 195 assists as a sophomore and 191 as a junior. In other words, over two seasons, she averaged exactly what she'd need next year to hit D's mark.

By the way, the NCAA-wide career record is 1,307 (Courtesy of Penn State's Suzie McConnell, so safe to say that record is safe. But it'd still be great for Moriah to set a UConn record...

As far as Mo is concerned , the record is within reach.....Difficult , yes. But possible. Of course it helped the last 2 seasons to have high percentage shooters like KML and Dolson on the team. Having Tuck this year also helped get Mo high assist numbers. If Nurse shooting numbers improve as they probably will , averaging 5 assist may be within Mo's reach......And adding KLS and Collier may not hurt either.

Napheesa shot 70% this season and could threaten Tamika's record. Get the ball to Gabby and Napheesa ... oh, Stewie, Morgan, and Natalie too. And Lou!

I agree with your analysis. It'll be close, but at around 5 assists a game, she can make the record. At the same time, she could finish second all-time in steals and with over 1500 points.

I think she does it - I think as a senior she will finally join the 200 assist club. Part of that is the team is losing 100+ assists from KML and she is likely being replaced by freshmen who generally are less ready to be big assists players - Mo will end up picking up some of the slack.

Well, Mo is at 508 assists with 140 to go to match D's record.

The 2015-16 season is one game shorter than most, and there are (we hope) 29 games left. If Mo gets just more than five a game, the Uconn record is hers.

Mo is very much on pace to set the record, as she already has 53 assists through nine games.

D's records are becoming less and less sacred. KML shattered her three-pointers made record. Now Mo is going after the assist record. Can Stewie surpass the three national championships and finish with four? Stay tuned!

Permit a comment about how Diana set the assist record that Moriah is homing in on. When DT's career at UConn was winding down, she had a clear shot at overtaking the UConn scoring record, then held by Nykesha Sales. Her teammates really wanted her to have it and they made it clear that they would assist (pun intended) her in every way possible to help her get it.

Her reaction? She said No, thanks -- BUT. . . she allowed that she would especially like to earn the assist record. That would mean more to her. So she did it.

We will never see her likes again. :)
