Never truer words typed, no point guard, no forwards, an invisible center that only shines, somewhat, against lesser talent, and there isn't many of less talent than Brimah. The spotlight once so bright on Kevin Ollie is dimming fast. Need a good showing in the AAC tourney, for what, a first round one and done in the NCAA's, maybe, NIT, for what?

You have an outstanding handle. I'd just like to say that.

We really do need to win something and soon, a regular season title, a conference tourney title, a first round road game in the NIT, i'll take anything!

Watching Nic Moore made me long for guard leadership. He actually reminded me of Bazz and what we are missing. I have to think it was him who held the team together in a meaningless year. Just giving the kid props.

Anyway I expect never to see a leaderless UConn team for some time, as Jalen will be anointed and others to succeed.

I have to agree. Can't stand the kid, but that's all I could think about during the parts of the game that I was able to watch last night, before turning off in disgust. It was clear to me from the first five minutes that Moore was simply not going to lose last night.

Outside of new Hampshire and Nicholis State, SMU had not even beat South Florida that bad! Its sad that our game was there their largest margin of victory.

Please explain, what talent?
There is talent there! How is was used and developed is another story. the chemistry was not there. Seton Hall doing better without Gibbs says a lot. Not blaming Gibbs though. I have to blame Ollie for the bulk of this season. he still my dude but Ive watch him and wasnt seeing anything he learned from calhoun as far as sideline motivation.

Trying to remember something comparable in a late season important game.
I was picking up my wife at the airport and the plane was delayed so when I got in watched the game on DVR. I like DVR because I can fast forward through the commercials. By the second half I was fast forwarding through the game. It was unwatchable.

I respect the fact that KO needs to do better. He has and needs to again.

But I think we have overestimated the level on talent on this team. Bazz and Boat no one is. And even though they were special they aren't lighting up the NBA they weren't limited. Meaning they weren't one dimensional. RP 3 pt specialist. SG spot up 3. Brimah loob/block. Dham rebounds/assists but turnovers minus this stat. Bench non-existent.

Miller can't pass himself the ball or stay in the game and here in lies KOs problem with me. Why hasn't he change his offense to feed SM the ball more consistently.

This is a remarkable feat. You manage to make a statement and then immediately backpedal on it in the very next sentence.

Well done.

I was pretty disapointed with everyones play, coaches included. Moreover, i was very disapointed with Brimahs play. He played absolutely great for the first 3 or 4 min. Then, he just stood under the hoop and watched. I quit watching after a while. He should be ashamed being a "premier shot blocker". Never seen so many dunks in a game with a big man standing under the backboard, with no one between him and the oncoming offensive player coming in to score.

Talent, talent, talent. We have have nit talent. No stud shooting guards, no point guard, and no power inside players. Ollie has to do a better job recruiting. Bringing in only one good player a year isn't going to cut it. We need a class of 3 or 4 players with loads of talent. Calhoun usually had two good recruiting classes in a row on the way to building a national championship team. Next year will be Ollie's first really good recruiting class. In the meantime, Uconn men's bb team will be hard to watch.

While I'm not saying we don't, nor am I happy with the current state of affairs, but we did just win the national title 3 years ago. It should not be written off. It was not a fluke.

There are about 344 other D1 BB teams that would sign up for our last 3 years in a heart beat.

You can't win without elite talent. That's just the way it is. And we don't have it.

Hamilton and Jalen have a chance to be elite, but they are not there yet. It is what it is.

I will slightly clarify, historically we need an AA or an AA candidate. This year's team is absent of that. All it takes is to have one AA (e.g. Kemba) with good complimentary players (which we have) to go far.

Once we get back to having national AA candidate considerations then the train will be redirected. I always thought DHam but I see Adams as that future AA candidate, so our future (to me) appears just fine. Perhaps if DHam puts in work off season then the turnaround will be much sooner, as he's capable with discipline play and further development (think defense).

It's only worse because it's happening now.

And I agree.

It's worse because Louisville was a really good team. We got smoked by SMU. The fact that UConn, the supposed "Big Bad Bully" in this conference, allowed SMU to become the dominant team in this league just galls the heck out of me. We all laugh at this league but the reality is we've never come close to winning it.

Quite frankly, they have one of the best coaches to ever do it. And definitely played fast and loose with the rules to boot. What can you do?

St Johns in the Garden long ago.

They clocked us by about 30 during the 1989-90 "Dream Season." Even great teams can have one really, really bad outing. The problem is this year's team ain't great, or even good.

We did come back and beat the Johnnies that season, 72-58, in the inaugural game at Gampel Pavilion, about three weeks later, in late Jan.

I personally witnessed Dyson, Sticks & Kemba 2009 team get their doors blown off in the BET 1st round vs a bad SJU team when they needed to win to keep any Tournament hopes alive.

That team quit late in the season losing 4 straight to end the year after a high of beating #8 WVU...we are having a similar tailspin after we beat SMU

KO said after that SMU win "We can't get drunk off success"...well right now they are still hungover weeks afterwards
Yeah, that was 2010 like another poster noted. This loss after a losing to bad USF team were heartbreakers. The team had just quit on JC that year like it seems to have on KO this year. Similar talent level but just a bad mix that never really worked well together as a team.
