Was at the game so maybe this was discussed before.

Just thinking out loud about just really realizing how friggin awesome it is that the retired alumni are starting to come to games on a regular basis and really travel, follow, and engage with the team. I mean they have always engaged during the off season at practice but we are really starting to see an uptick now that Ray and Rip are retired.

I sat about 20 rows back from the group and Ray was like a huge fan boy. He was up and arguing calls like the average fan. It was really awesome to see.

It also cant hurt recruiting when, say, Hamidou Diallo is watching UConn on ESPN and it cuts to Ray Allen and Rip Hamilton getting pissed and fired up about their alma mater while rocking UConn gear. It's so cool to see now that some of our legends are out of the league and can go to these games.

that group shot they put up of them on the MSG's video screens was dope until you panned to the right and realized Jerome Williams and his veneers were also included

And it seems like Boo Willingham is always around at games. Apparently he is one of Ollie's best friends to this day.

I'm pretty sure he goes to most games atleast. It's Jim Calhoun, he's earned the right to do whatever the hell he wants.

Look I worship the man to an unhealthy level, but he doesn't need a golden parachute job taking $ out of the AD at a time when Kevin Ollie is pulling out of his own pocket to fund the Champions center. We need more money going in. So what's he doing? Is he in fact bringing in $? I know this is going to turn into a hornets nest and nobody here is capable of truly answering the question, but I did think there would be a check from a rip, or a ray, or a charlie, or a ben, or an emeka when he was given that title. We need it don't we?

I know it was his legacy to push his players away from giving back exorbitant amounts of money and if he doesn't want that task now, that's fine. If so, don't cash the paychecks.

This post wont get nearly as many likes as the requisite not a dime back post to follow, but you know I'm right somewhere inside.

Im sure it helps that Ollie is now the head coach instead of an outsider. Ray loves UConn but hes also friends with KO, so that adds to the extra support as well now that hes out of the NBA and has time to travel to the games.

What did Ray say in the locker room at the half? Must have been leaked by now.

I respect JC immensely for WHY he was strict about his players not giving money to the program (almost a sort of "it was all you not me" kind of thing) but I really think had that rule not been in place like other major programs that produce NBA talent, our public profile could have been stronger over the last decade considering the massive amount of players we sent to the league and helped make millions. As of 2012 UConn was second only to Duke in terms of active player salary but that's fallen off immensely since. Regardless, I think we would have seen more alum court side at games and probably could have had the practice facility sooner, hell Carmelo bought the whole thing for Syracuse on his own dime.
