Article has nothing to do with realignment but gives a great perspective to the amount of population in the north east compared with the Carolina's and Virginia.

Ha! I'd give you a "like" but you already have too much. Once you go below the 1:1 post-to-like ratio I may rethink my position.
 
Heres another type of map that shows population density using voting results. The NE is so much more densely populated than anything the south can offer. And the NE will always retain this population because of its location and proximity to NYC, Boston, Philly, DC
