There is a thread on the ESPN board about which program will fall farthest if Geno or Pat would retire. The thread inspired me to write the following poem... Definitely no Robert Frost but it was fun nevertheless. Hope you enjoy the spirit in which it was written...

Many begin to reflect on when Geno will retire
And, the ensuing difficulty on who to hire.

Schadenfreude, wringing hands all and all
They think, how far will UConn fall?

The Queen is gone, the king is dead,
Yesterday's dynasties have been put to bed.

Today is full of promise for something new
Time for someone else to get their due.

Recruits no longer to Storrs will go
For without Geno, the answer is no.

Hope abounds, Husky fans will lose their grips
Losing one after another, with no championships

To think of the glory of yesteryear
In the eyes of the faithful brings a tear.

This is but wishful thinking from those who hate
If only Geno, would just cooperate.

But alas for those whose mind is fixed
Geno's retirement is all but nixed.

With Stewart, Moriah and Morgan yet to come
Geno's contract extension is sure to bother some.

Three more championships will make ten
And, only then he'll pass the torch to Jen.

Well done cferr !!

It ain't no Shakespearean Sonnet.

But for Husky Fans, it is much more fan.

As a long time English teacher,

I'll put an A
At the top of your paper, today.
