A new year of basketball: Dec. 30-Jan. 6

10-0 run for Cal to start Q3. This is actually a game now, within 15.

Cal starts 3Q on a 10-0 run, cuts it to 15. Kamie Ethridge calls timeout. This could get interesting.

Cal drew to within 13, Cougs pushed it back up to 18 now.

And LSU losses to Missouri. Bad loss
Losses to Oklahoma and Missouri, and wins over FGCU, Rutgers and Michigan State. A mixed bag of a resume.

Molina and Hristova have been amazing, and Muzet and Murekatete are making me look smart :)

WSU shooting a ridiculous 67.5% from the field! This is the kind of play I thought WSU might be capable of this year. They just waited till January 5 to show it.

I think they overscheduled OOC a bit. Losing at home to UW could really haunt them. Hanging on for the W today could get them back on track, then they get a rematch in Seattle. Up 22 now.

Honestly the Michigan State win is gonna end up not being very impressive. They aren't that good. Rutgers and FGCU are good wins though. SEC play won't help a lot unless they win vs the top teams. Conference has performed extremely poorly during OOC and has one of the worst conference RPI's.

Well I'm sure Kamie had no idea they'd draw Baylor, SC and Indiana in the Paradise Jam. Probably the toughest field anyone ever had in a holiday tournament. Otherwise their schedule was reasonable. They were in the game at Miami until the last few minutes.

That's true. I think they play Gonzaga every year.

Dang Miami, they are getting de-valued as an opponent by the day.

And Mizzou kept trying to give them the comeback win with those late turnovers too. My wife thought something bad had happened to me based on the noise I made when Mizzou called timeout and then threw the ball away over the baseline.

Were you rooting for Mizzou?

Not really. I was neutral although it helps us slightly more for LSU to win because we play them twice.

eta: just a visceral reaction to bad basketball!

96-75 Wazzu final. Hristova and Molina combined for 54 points on 22-32 FG. That's getting it done.

Wow, Cal has back to back w/ Stanford and road trip to Oregon schools coming up. They could very easily find themselves 0-6 in conference to start before they host the Mountain schools.

Well, makes me feel better about our defense of them on Friday - at least we held the rest of their team to 4 points rather than 42!

Here comes the offensively challenged Huskies to make you feel better.

Ugh, I started to watch some of ASU-USC but then I heard the unmistakable blathering of Tammy Blackburn. Where's my remote

Arizona St. running away with it early. Who would've guessed they would perform better in LA this weekend than UA?
