A message from Mora

there are some weird takes on this board over the last few days. Gents and Lady Yarders... in 2019 we were ranked 125th out of 130 FBS teams. 2021 we were 128th. We're going to a 3rd bowl game in 4 years after back to back 9 win seasons. Whatever it is you think you're owed from Jim Mora, it's been delivered. Get a grip people.. you're arguing over what University PR departments are sending to a person to post on their social media profiles.

It's Thanksgiving people.

Mora gave his all to UConn over his 4 years here. He resurrected a dying football program and got fans back into the stadium. He was everything we needed in our hour of desperation. We should honor and respect his personal decisions and stop acting like jilted adolescents.

Okay so now everybody found out a head football coach on the FBS level is not completely honest and just tells BS to get players and fans pumped up. Hopefully you will not be surprised and shocked again when the next head coach does the same thing.

I don't recall if Randy ever posted a message like this. If he didn't, while leaving on his own terms like JM, then we don't need to continue with the angst about Mora. Just remember the REdsall!

It's become clear to me why JM took the CSU job. He didn't get us in a P league, so that piece of his motivation for coming here was unfulfilled. He had a tough schedule coming up in 2026, would have to get lucky finding a QB for next year and possibly some additional important roster spots, and his stock would likely have fallen some with a mediocre year.

So, he left on top, gets a raise, a longer contract, other enhancements, lower expectations for the next several years and lives nearer to his likely retirement spot.Probably what most, if not all, people today would have done.

We all care so much about our team we forget to outsiders it's a job leading to a number of potential outcomes and he chose the safest with the best probable outcome for him.
Quality of life

Sad commentary if that’s what most do. Here’s another take. Sign your name to a contract to do something for a commitment period to the best of your ability. With success, you are rewarded with an extension paying more with you promising to stay longer. Something “better” comes along with more money and lower expectations and all it takes is dishonoring your own signature and reputation by walking away. What seems like a no-brainer is actually selling your character for a few extra silver coins. It’s not the an act of real man. It’s the act of a man-child who doesn’t value the words that come out of his mouth but expects others to do so.
So in other words, coaches should only leave if fired. Juvenile way of looking at a coach leaving. UConn is getting 1.5 million for him leaving as agreed upon in the contract. We need to move on and not sound like scorned exes.

He posted it on both platforms, twitter and instagram. At least twitter is for people who can read, instagram is really just about pictures
I don't have that either. Judging by what I see posted from social media by other people, most of it is fiction.

Thank you. There is no reason to care what Mora said/says upon his departure unless you believe what a college football coach says at any time, and if you believe that most of what a college coach says is because he is communicating truth as opposed to he has a purpose for saying it, that’s on you. Not him. It’s not Macy’s fault that the guy riding in the sleigh at the end of the parade dressed as Santa isn’t actually real — it’s the fault of people who believes he is.

Wait, Santa isn't real??!!

Randy was much, much worse. Ghosting the team on the ride back to Connecticut.

We helped Mora and he helped us. I have no problem with him leaving. He's 64 and wanted to live in the mountains. He's allowed. He really did nothing wrong. Now it's time for the university to step up. I think any competent head man could produce winning records.

What the hell. It's not like we have any names to talk about yet.

"UConn Nation: Four years ago I was a Head Coach looking for a team. Thanks for believing in me and what this program could achieve; it has been an experience that I will cherish forever. I will never forget the successes and memories we made together. It has been a difficult decision, but it is time for me to say goodbye. Go Huskies and good luck to everyone except for LAZ Parking and Mike DiMauro."

It's not hard.

I don't buy all of those arguments because they all sound like cop-outs. Other than getting into a P conference, all of those other things are what he signed on for and what he was getting paid very well to do. Tough schedule? Of course, but not extremely difficult. Find a QB and other roster spots? That's the job. Location? He knew where UConn was located. He just signed an extension. It could be something else. Maybe they disagreed on terms or he didn't like some other decisions. But if he in fact left because his stock was at its highest, that's soft, and bullspit takes the bus.
Speaking of that extension, does anyone know if we got any buyout money?

It'll be 1.5m as others have noted. Just wanted to add that it will be paid out in installments. I think it's 28 monthly installments IIRC, first payment being due 30 days after he terminated his contract with UConn.

I don't get why people care. He left. Let's see who we can get to come here.
The best thing is he proved that the Uconn FB job is not the blackhole the national media liked to portray it as, despite Indy FB and all the near misses in CR. He helped change the course halfway through his 4 years, with spread it out/passing game FB ( thank you Joey F. /Skyler, etc) along with help of the NIL donors who stepped up bigtime. (Even stole an AAC bowl tie-in along the way, while we nearly doubled thier attendance #'s) With rev sharing also now in place, the blue print has been set, need someone to stay the course.

That would have made me spit my coffee all over the monitor. Just relieved I was between sips.
