Means nothing but if you want it to mean something. The three bubble teams- St. John's skipped it, Providence didn't try, and Seton Hall won.
It's still embarrassing as hell. the leagues fans like to puff their chest as the Best/toughest league in the country. We got disrespected badly on selection Sunday in that Seton hall definitely should've been in, and St. Johns probably. For the couple days since, the whole nation has been running with "the BigEast got screwed". We had a chance to prove that and fell flat on our faces. If a few teams could've won a couple in the NIT and the 3 in the NCAA tourney made runs, it could've helped us in making the NCAA hierarchy think twice about screwing us again. Instead we gave them total redemption and justification. Is it that simple? no. Obviously. But these days perception is reality. It only takes that little to flip a narrative on it's head.
I love the league and think it is the best basketball league in the country, but Im getting tired of watching mid teams beat the hell out of each other in conference, but crap the bed OOC when they could actually help the overall league health and tourney resumes and chances. They rode Nova's coattails while we were gone, now they are riding ours. Is asking them to pull just a little weight too much to ask? We may need their help someday. A rising tide lifts all boats.
Simply embarrassing.
By the way, Providence tried, they were winning that game late. With or without Carter they have to win that game. They should've. Its BC.
Butler, Nova, and PC were all higher seeded teams PLAYING AT HOME! in a 1st round matchup. Xavier I can forgive. Shame on the other 3.
A couple more years like this and we (the league, not UConn) start to look like exactly what Kobe trolls us about.
