Do I hate that the selection committee completely snubbed and short-changed the Big East? YES.

Do I absolutely love this for the 3 teams that got in (especially the good guys)? HELL YES.

Feels like these 3 inadvertently received a little extra motivation carrying the torch for the entire conference.

All I know is, we have a bunch of zombie snipers with short memories on the perimeter, and a giant ClingKong inside.

Lez go!

Another situation that a strong Commish should have something to say from conference wide perspective

Means nothing but if you want it to mean something. The three bubble teams- St. John's skipped it, Providence didn't try, and Seton Hall won.
SH won in OT. Maybe we’re giving those guys too much credit.

We thought some Seton Hall players looked disinterested, especially Richmond.

And PC was without Carter and Barron so they were really thin. Corey Floyd wasn't able to pick up the slack...............

Yeah, not saying it was SH’s finest hour, but I thought Holloway would be out to prove something. Maybe next game will be better.

Nova looked pretty bad against VCU, who seemed to have a few players. Incredible team length. At least 5 guys with 7’+ wingspans. Their coach drew up a couple great oob plays too. Hope Luke was watching.

Seems to me there's a little conference homerism at play here. Never seen husky fans clamor so anxiously to defend Pitino.

You guys didn't hear? The Big East sucks because Butler lost to Minnesota in the NIT

I think it’s a bad look for the league that the POY sat out the NIT

Still makes the perception of the conference look bad. All anyone is going to see is that the Big East is 1-4 in the NIT which further reinforces people's belief that the conference is bad.
No it doesn't. Nobody cares about the NIT, the players don't care and the fans don't watch. The only thing other teams fans are paying attention to regarding the Big East is how UConn, Marquette, Creighton do

The NIT is not what it once was. Nobody cares about it. Add in the open portal period and it makes interest even less. Why would a team like St. John's, who practically needs and entire new roster, waste their time playing in the NIT when they could be cashing in on all the tampering they did throughout the season? You are better off skipping the NIT and getting a head start on the portal and roster for the next season.

I also love how Pitino cried about NIL ruining NCAA but the day after the portal opens multiple players are linked to St. John's due to the perceived strength of their NIL, and Pitino being coach. I think that just shows the tampering that has been going on. I think Pitino is a great coach, but maybe he should just shut his mouth a little more often.

It's still embarrassing as hell. the leagues fans like to puff their chest as the Best/toughest league in the country. We got disrespected badly on selection Sunday in that Seton hall definitely should've been in, and St. Johns probably. For the couple days since, the whole nation has been running with "the BigEast got screwed". We had a chance to prove that and fell flat on our faces. If a few teams could've won a couple in the NIT and the 3 in the NCAA tourney made runs, it could've helped us in making the NCAA hierarchy think twice about screwing us again. Instead we gave them total redemption and justification. Is it that simple? no. Obviously. But these days perception is reality. It only takes that little to flip a narrative on it's head.

I love the league and think it is the best basketball league in the country, but Im getting tired of watching mid teams beat the hell out of each other in conference, but crap the bed OOC when they could actually help the overall league health and tourney resumes and chances. They rode Nova's coattails while we were gone, now they are riding ours. Is asking them to pull just a little weight too much to ask? We may need their help someday. A rising tide lifts all boats.

Simply embarrassing.

By the way, Providence tried, they were winning that game late. With or without Carter they have to win that game. They should've. Its BC.

Butler, Nova, and PC were all higher seeded teams PLAYING AT HOME! in a 1st round matchup. Xavier I can forgive. Shame on the other 3.

A couple more years like this and we (the league, not UConn) start to look like exactly what Kobe trolls us about.

It's incredible our fans are trying to make this a thing. They're the only people watching the NIT.

They may not watch, but they pay attention to the results. Especially in the aftermath of the selection Sunday snubs.

Anybody who reads this forum should realize that only math nerds attempt to objectively look at things.

The NCAA panel was attacked because of their treatment of the BE. They now have cover. The media will pull back their attacks because many casual fans (the vast majority of fans) will laugh at them. The haters and detractors of our conference and UConn will play it up. It provides ammo for recruiting. We’re negotiating with FOX. They will argue those results justify less money.

But most of all Cincinnati won. Can’t wait for @kobe to appear.

You're a good poster, you can't really believe half the things you typed there. A bunch of meaningless losses in the NIT is going to hurt recruiting for the conference and the next media deal? If a single recruit brings up the fact that Butler and Xavier lost in the NIT as a reason for not considering UConn Dan Hurley is gonna rightly laugh in their face

When you have 3 of the teams from the NBE, that some will say deserve to be in the big dance, playing their 1st games of a tournament at their home courts and all lose - it paints a dim picture on the league. I don't care if some players didn't play - you protect your home court.
The whining can stop now.
Time to get out of this conference which is run by amateurs.

Yeah, it's that absolute. Yikes.

Everything matters . All those pennies that get thrown a way, if you collect a Billion of them you have 10 million dollars.

The NIT Does. Not. Matter. I get why you think it might because you've been hanging out with Providence fans all year, but no decisions are being made based on teams not caring about the NIT and losing games

Actually it's the opposite. Providence fans are the first ones making excuses that it doesn't matter.

Wars (and selection sunday) are now fought in the court of public opinion.

If an NIT game is a penny, an NCAA game is a 10 dollar bill. What Creighton Marquette and UConn do over the next 3 weeks will determine how the Big East is viewed going into the offseason
