A long summer with no WCBB ahead

1. Job
2. Bike rides
3. Hangin' with dawg
4. Swimming in pool (preferably sans trunks)
5. Going to music festivals
6. Going to music shows at small venues
7. Birding
8. Hitting breweries
9. Driving really fast down country roads
10. Eating out
11. Vacations!!!

Then, its hoops season...

Between, the "downers", my heart and my arthritis, the things that keep me alive are my friends, the NY Yankees keep me going from April to October and UConn WBB and WBB as a whole keep me going from October to April!
And when those 2 overlap it seems like something great is happening every day!

During college basketball season I usually put aside most everything else to watch or play (video games) so the off season is my chance to catch up on the backlog. :)

There’s also work, the Yankees, hiking, breweries, etc etc. The CNY area is always bustling in the summer and fall with events. Time moves fast.

I normally associate ND with the famous Χριστὸς Παντοκράτωρ, not the dome. We also had a Χριστὸς Παντοκράτωρ at my alma mater, CUA, so that image has a warm spot in my memory. Ours was on the inside of our cathedral dome.
In the words of Jed Clampet, "what the dickens you say?" You realize that approx. 99.9% of the people on the BY have no clue what you are talking (actually typing) about. Or was that the point of your post?

Sorry about that. I was trying not to be disrespectful. If you recall the famous image of a religious figure with his arms up appearing to signal a touchdown at ND, that’s actually an icon of the all-powerful One (Παντοκράτωρ), and it only happens to be visible from the football stadium by chance. There’s a similar one at my Alma mater, the Catholic University of America. In my childhood, this icon, and the way sportscasters talked about it was almost a byword for ND athletics. It was one reason I was a Fighting Irish fan. I am also Irish on my mother’s side. I’m still a fan, except when it comes to WCBB, and still have several friends on the faculty there.

I'll dig into games from seasons gone by this summer but for now I'm trying to establish a personal record of 2025 NCAA games rewatched. I'm going to remember this season primarily for one thing sort of off the court and one very much on it.

Off the court: It's a cliche to say UConn fans travel well. This year erased all doubt that UConn fans are the greatest in the game. From the opening tip in every arena UConn owned the place and it was magnificent.

On the court: What player gets their personal scoring record in the NCAA Tournament? What player scores 3 30 point games in the NCAA Tournament? Who does those things while being everywhere on the court defensively? She wrote an epic final chapter for herself. That will be my enduring memory of 2025.

Thanks. When UConn football beat ND (maybe the only undefeated team against ND) at South Bend a UConn running back scored a touchdown and then mimicked Touch Down Jesus in the end zone. Fittingly he caught holy hell for doing that.

It sure is going to be a loooooong summer (and fall until November). I posted on a different "summer" thread that I was planning to watch the February game against SoCar, Senior Day and the complete post season replays, most of which I DVRed. Mission accomplished. In the past three weeks I have watched every game at least once (Senior Day and the BE Tournament), the SoCar and the NCAA Tournament games multiple times. I have become fond of watching the SoCar games back to back.
So I am guessing that I will continue watching the replays and add in some other games that I can find on YouTube. (OT Does anyone know why the UConnHuskyGames for WBB hasn't been updated in the last couple of seasons? Of course only non SNY games are expected.)
I have already caught up on some new seasons of streaming shows such as Reacher, Bosch-Legacy and Daredevil-Born Again. Again, I will see what else I can find.
SWERVE between now and early June it is college softball season, so I will be watching the games, mostly SEC, being streamed on ESPN. I did catch a UConn game on FS1 this week. Then on to the WCWS. Can Oklahoma 5 peat??????
After that, wait to watch college football until November rolls around.
Aren't you glad you asked????

We spent a couple of months in FL this past winter. To keep sane, I got back into photography. Mostly shot birds - wanted to learn to shoot 'birds in flight (bif). Now I have over 10k images to sort through and edit.

I don't know how the rest of you manage to get through these torturous summers, but I've taken to watching old videos of Paige's HS games...
That's what got me here to watch UConn... I've been watching games from all over the country on YouTube and on NFHS, wherever I could find them.

I think the first Paige game I watched was when Hopkins lost in the state final (I think) during her freshman year. A few minutes of watching Paige ball out was more than enough for me to see just how good she could be. By the time she was finished as a soph at Hopkins, I knew that whatever college team she chose would be MY team.

Between Hopkins replays and her UConn days, I've probably seen 120-150 full game of Paigeball.

Of course, the thing that actually got me to the Boneyard was Aidan Mahaney (look at my screen name), but I was a veteran UConn fan before he portaled over. Still waiting for word on where Aidan goes next, btw...

But that's off-topic. What do I do before next WBB season? Let's see....

Lots of PGA Tour 2k25 computer golf, a few other games on occasion

WNBA

June non-contact HS period when teams can play together under their head coach, a sneak preview of my Campolindo Cougars for 25-26 (We'll be very young, graduated 8 seniors off a 19-9 team; good news, the JV and frosh were solid) (I do very little other summer youth ball)

Mensa Annual Gathering in Chicago

Trad-jazz festivals

Giants baseball

HS football until hoops cranks up

Retired life is good...

Team's back on campus in five weeks for summer workouts. You won't have to go too long without some WCBB. It's really the July/Aug/Sep months from the end of the summer session to media days that's the black hole of WCBB.

I record every game, just in case I come in late or it's at an ungodly hour. After that, I usually delete them. But this year something told me, don't delete them. You'll want to see them all again. I did delete our losses, but now I'm in the process of watching all our wins from the beginning of the season. Last night it was Iowa State. I'd forgotten how amazing Ashlyn was.

After going thru basketball withdrawal it's time for baseball season. Yankees fan here.
.
I have several Check-Call-Compress classes to teach thru November for ur community.

Doing a lot of travel this summer. We may be going to CT in May. Our thi9rd son, the sailor may be coming to CT in May. We'll know at pretty much the last minute. July we are taking a cruise to Alaska for our 50th anniversay. In August we take our annual trip to CT to see our two oldest sons and their families. Good times with the grandsons - all 4 of them.

September is back home. The band I play in starts up rehearsals again in prep for our annual Halloween dance. Adding a new number - Ghost Busters!!!
