As some of you old timers remember, I, the Poet Lariat, used to be a member in good (more or less) standing on the Boneyard, way back in the days when posters could have more than one handle. When that changed, some of us argued that those of us with multiple personalities should be allowed multiple handles, but we did not prevail and I, along with many of Zorro's (and Wonkster's) alter egos were banished to the outer darkness. I have discovered, however, that from time to time, when Zorro is even more discombobulated than usual, I can sneak in and take over his motor functions, including using his keyboard. This is one of those times. The upcoming game with the "number one" "Lady Gamecocks" (possibly the single worst name for a team in all of sports!) has aroused my muse to inspire the following doggerel. (If you don't like it, you shouldn't have bothered reading it!) Apologies to Al Jolson and James Taylor.

Nuthin could be finer than to whup-ass Carolina down at Ga-ha-ham-pull
Give their team a spanking and reclaim our rightful ranking down at Ga-ha-ham-pull.
And when Ms. Staley’s upstarts
Come in as “number one”,
And the Huskies break their poor hearts
Golly won’t that be fun!
It prolly won’t be purty when the Huskies win by thirty down at Ga-ha-ham-pull
Polly will be in it long before the final minute down at Ga-ha-ham-pull.
If I had a poet’s gifts for only one day
I’d make a rhyme and here’s what I’d say;
Nuthin could be finer that to whup-ass Carolina down at Ga-a-am-pull!!!

In my mind we’re whompin Carolina,
Can’t you just see the scoreboard?
Can’t you just taste the rewards?
And ain’t it just like them other teams we smack down every time!
And we’re whompin Carolina in my mind.

submitted by your humble servant, the Poet Lariat

Now that's gonna be in my head for hours........or days..........

But I LIKE it!!

Welp, you have totally demolished the mojo and given us all someone to waggle a finger at if something goes wrong and they only win by 29. But with these kinds of games, it's kind of a reverse-mojo double-negative tongue-twisting full gainer that needs to be done to insure a good outcome.

Nah, Dobbsie; all that is necessary is to have the players that we have. And we do. And they don't.

Poems don't win or lose games; players and coaches do. Players, coaches, and mojo :). Good job, Poet - welcome back, and stop by again soon!
