In the euphoria of #12 ,and a another dominant win, there was something in the 4th quarter that was a little different. When we went to our "Small" lineup, the spread spacing that was being used, showed the potential of a different half court offense.
When you get absolutely no offense from the post position, the defense does not have to guard them. This means that defender is free to park under the basket and to help everywhere else. Going to a spread offense where 3 point shooting is at all points and the lane is not clogged, penetration becomes a big advantage.
When you have three players that can penetrate at will, Fudd, Strong and Arnold, it makes the team close to being un-guardable. KK was unstoppable. Fudd and Strong can get by anyone guarding them. They can finish or kick out to the 3 point line. (See Fudd's kick to Ash that made it 36-26).
Now Geno won't change his philosophy away from weaving and everyone touching the ball. But moving forward, he seems to be more open to the possibilities of opening the offense up.
