There was nothing lucky about our championship. We comfortably beat the preseason #1, regular season #1 and the team most people expected to win the title (MSU). None of our wins relied on flukie buzzer beaters or terrible calls by the referees.

UConn has traditionally stepped it up come tournament time. Our coaches know how to prepare teams for the big moments.

MAN I LOVE THIS POST.

We beat consensus PRESEASON #1, consensus REGULAR SEASON #1 AND the "Experts" Favorite to win it all. CLASSIC. Anyone who wants to give us S about this run can KISS DA RING

I am not sure college basketball has ever seen perimeter defense played like Boat and Bazz for a full 40 before. Seriously, no exaggeration. Consistently, it was the best on ball defense I have ever seen.

hope we don't start seeing copycats, lol, and I posted something simlar during the postseason about Ollie being on his Thibodeau Jr. steez last season with the PG play and the defensive schemes, the majority of college teams do not employ the type of help and recovery schemes that we saw Ollie throw out there.

Coaches: Watching UConn's man-to-man defense is great to show your team. Textbook help and recovery/stunting from weak side. Teaching tool!

Ollie's NBA concepts. Thibodeau-ian! RT @memphogrtg: @franfraschilla Who do you think oversaw the D on that team? Ollie or assistant?

ace, how would you answer that question?

not sure what you mean, I'm on the same page as Fran that the concepts were straight outta the NBA, it was like watching the Bulls/Heat in the halfcourt as far as the strategy...or do you mean whoever posted that question to Fran was trying to get at something else?

I wasn't trolling, I was just asking your opinion if Ollie is the defensive guru on the staff or one of the assistants? Like how Thibbs was the the D guru when he was with the Celtics?

Gotcha, not trying to discredit the entire staff because we've already seen the reports of Glen Miller introducing the Steve Nash free throw practice tool to KO, but with KO having just come from the NBA, and with the defensive schemes looking so NBA-like, I lean towards giving him the majority of the credit on this one.
