Banks looked lost on offense. Missed a lay-up very badly and bricked 2 free throws. However, she played pretty tough D.
Just to be a bit picky, but without the game to watch, it's hard to get a feel for the intangibles. Chong seemed to get better as the game went along and she did not get pulled out except for small stretches. It's as if Geno wanted to let her get over any doubts related to getting pulled out for small mistakes. She really got much better on Offense, but still had periods where she did not get into the dynamic flow of offensive movement. This did linger through the game. She spent a lot of time just standing and not moving. The entire time she stood, there was no defender on her, as if they could sense her non-contribution at these times. I think she started to move better on O by the end of the game and her point total reflected this. Her D was very good all game long. Stuck to her player, got rebounds, and disrupted passes and shots regularly. BB played good D, but on O she was hesitant with every pass. Received the ball and did not know who to send it to next. She would try for one player, change her mind and try for another player and change her mind, usually three times every she had the ball. She was just not situationally aware enough to just pass the ball without hesitation. That hesitation usually caused the open player to not be open, hence her indecision.
It was easy to see as compared to the quick hands and superb passing game of the others. Bria H once got the ball and immediately made a no look pass inside, no hesitation, and led to an easy basket. The group of Hartely, Dolson, Stewie, Kiah, and MoJett (as well as Chong later in the game) contrasted sharply with BB's hesitation on O. All in all, she really did do a good job This reply is merely to help the fan without the tv to watch the game and not meant to deinigrate BB's contribution. She really is a great player and will be a strong contributor from the bench, if not a starter after she gets her feet wet a bit more. Perhaps the Houston game will take care of that.
All in all the game had a strong dynamic flow to it. In fact IMO, the lack of competition led to the Huskies moving too fast and taking rushed shots. No fault of the ladies, but was caused by the lack of UCF to slow down the Huskies in anyway. Those rushed shots seemed to actually cause the Husky's shooting percentage to be lower than it may well have been otherwise. It was interesting to watch the lack of competition actually be a detriment to the Husky's game in this manner.
