I think the real winners-measured by real championships, lessons learned, etc,- are still out there but the author is definitely writing about something real...and distressing. Too big a subject to accurately analyze and too much momentum to know how or where to manage it. assuming it either can or should be managed, opposed, contained, etc. On the court, I swear it began when missed free throws started to require handshakes from teammates.
