9 year old phenom dreams of being a Husky

We are seeing more and more of this. In the old days (80's and 90's), Tennessee was winning everything in sight and they were the team everyone wanted to play for. But the torch has been passed. since 2000, UCONN has won 8 NC's. That's 8 out of 15 by the way - more than 50%. Given also that Geno will have been the HC of the US National team for 8 years total, it's not surprising that players growing up now idolize the best team in the sport.

If the NCAA allows letters to be sent to 9 year olds then the rules need to be changed.

What High School allows an elementary aged student to play on a HS team ?

I wonder if the kid plays hopscotch or jump rope. The dad sounds like a stage father.

Believe it or not it is very common for elementary students(7th and 8th grade) to play on a High School team if they are good enough. The way I see it is if the kid is good enough to compete with High School players and can protect themselves then why not. Playing against good competition is what makes you better and if there is no competition for you in your own age bracket then why not go up in age to find better competition?

7th and 8th grade is not elementary school. Playing for a school you do not attend is alright ?

In most schools systems you have 4 years of HS eligibility . Let the girl play high level AAU to see how good she is.

Not a bad cross-over but she needs to stop with the stiff arm. I say send her a T-shirt, a UCONN Championship season DVD, and some tickets to the UCF game. Of course those are probably NCAA violations.

She appears to have incredible skill. It'll be interesting to see how it develops in 6-7 years when people should really be talking about her. She could come in two years after Megan Walker graduates. :)

Recruiting 9 year olds should be a crime. With that said........her right to left crossover is sick!!
