About Senior Day, from the Game Notes:

UConn will honor eight seniors on Sunday morning, Dominic Freeberger, Luke Broadhurst, Paul Tammaro, Chris Brown, Ryan Hyde, Garrett Coe, Ben Huber and David Smith. Justin Willis and Devin Kirby were honored last year and will play their final regular season games in Storrs this weekend.

Well, this answers the question that came up not too long ago about whether or not Chris Brown was still on the team.
 
Double dip tomorrow. Women's softball at noon versus a very good Seton Hall team. Women trying to climb that NCAA mountain and they need fans' support. Game on FS2 if you can't get out there. Then over to Ted's for a late lunch with a possible libation(s). Nightcap baseball at 6:05 pm. Let's get 2 wins.

Top 1st, with 1 out Sears gives up 2 walks, followed by a 1 out RBI single. 1-0 Butler. Sears strikes out the next 2 batters to end the inning.
 
Chris Jones does not think we will see David Smith play this weekend.

Top 2nd, Sears hits the leadoff hitter. With 1 out Sears picks off the runner at 1B for the 2nd out of the inning. Sears faces the minimum, game tied at 1. Sears with 3 strikeouts so far this game.

Tom Ellisen was warming up that inning.
 
Very nice diving catch by Sears on a bunt attempt. Appeared a little bit shaken up afterwards so something to keep an eye on

A sac fly for the 2nd out brings in another run, 3-1 Butler. Despite the run scoring, Ellisen retires the 3 batters he faces that inning.

Great work by Ellisen. He is an athlete.

Top 5th, Butler with a no out solo homer to tie the game at 4. A 1 out double puts a runner at 2B, and a 1 out RBI single gives Butler a 5-4 lead. Ellisen retires the next 2 batters.

Devin Kirby comes in to pitch in the top of the 6th. Ellisen threw 34 pitches.

Of course, it doesn't always work that way in baseball. Not uncommon for lesser teams to beat better teams in this sport on any level.

Speaking of which, St. John's has a late in the game lead over Xavier. 8-5 lead St. John's lead after 7 innings.
