#9 NC State (14-0, 3-0 ACC) takes the short ride to Chapel Hill to face arch-rival, UNC (11-3, 2-1) at 7 pm. The game will be broadcast on some regional Fox Sports networks (here in SC, on Fox Sports Southeast).

NC State is coming off a 20-point win over Virginia, capping off an impressive week by sophomore center Elissa Cunane, who averaged 27 points and 12 rebounds in the two contests last week, earning her a second ACC POW honor. UNC is coming off a close loss to Virginia Tech.

Tonight's matchup will be the 110th time these two Triangle teams have tangled, with NC State holding a 58-51 series lead. Last season, each team won on the opponent's home floor, with NC State winning the game in Chapel Hill, avenging a notorious loss to UNC in Raleigh, when the Tar Heels handed the Wolfpack Women their first loss of the season and ending the school-record win streak and start to a season at 21 games.

I have watched parts of some NC State games this season and I like watching Cunane. She handles herself well and seems to be enjoying what she is doing. I hope she continues to play well.

She is improving rapidly and I have never seen anyone who seems to enjoy playing basketball as much as Elissa. If she can stay healthy, she is going to be a monster when she's a senior.

Something about this game would worry me if I were a Wolfpack fan..... you never know in these types of games.... and that team down in Orange county can be a pesky bunch vs their triangle rivals, especially at home. If this was a poll.... I'd vote for the Tarheels to pull the upset.

End of 1st quarter...NC State leads 23-17. oth teams burning it up from long range...UNC 5 of 9 and NC State 5 of 9 from THREE. Ace Konig with 10 points for NC State...while UNC is led by Janelle Bailey with 6 points.

4:43 left 2nd quarrter, NC State leads 31-22. A 5-0 run for UNC has cut into what was a 14-point lead for NC State. Wolfpack Women are still hot, shooting 52.3% from the field, including 7 of 12 from THREE.

Ace Konig leading the way with 10 points and Jakia Brown Turner with 8 for NC State. Janelle Bailey with 6 for UNC.

NC State shot 53.6% in the first half on 15 of 28 shooting, including 8 of 13 from THREE. UNC shot 34.4% on 11 of 28 shooting, and was 6 of 16 from THREE.

Ace Konig with 13 points at the half paces NC State, Jakia Brown Turner has 12 and Kayla Jones 8 for the Wolfpack Women. UNC is led by Bennett with 7 points, Janelle Bailey with 6 and Taylor Koenen with 5.

The rebounding battle is tied at 17-17. Elissa Cunane has 6 boards for NC State. The Wolfpack Women committed 7 turnovers, including on five straight possessions during an 11-0 UNC run in the 2nd quarter. UNC had 6 turnovers.

Is this a throw out the book game?

End of 3rd quarter...46-46 game. UNC was 9 of 19 on shots in the 3rd stanza...NC State only 3 of 16 with 4 turnovers. '

UNC's run has been spearheaded by Taylor Koenen and Shayla Bennett.

Two of the four remaining undefeateds are in danger of losing tonight.

NC State was hurt by a sub-par game by Elissa Cunane, forcing the need for made perimeter shots, which just didn't happen, with the Wolfpack Women shooting only 20% in the second half. Credit Janelle Bailey for her work shutting down Cunane, who did finish with 8 points.

The loss despite a fantastic effort from Ace Konig, who had 24 points and was 6 of 9 from THREE. NC State finished the game shooting 37.9% from the field on 22 of 58 shooting. UNC shot 40% on 22 of 65 shots.

Up next: NC State goes on the road to Notre Dame. UNC plays Florida State.

So UNC is actually decent this year, eh?

Its a rivalry game.... they get up for those....... usually they are good for one upset a year in those games.

Letter reported them as 12-3, 3-1 ACC. Seems un-UNC-like numbers. Who else have they beat?

I think they were decent last year as well.

Cupcake non-conference schedule.... upset wins vs State when they were 21-0.... and ND when they were #1 perhaps. But more importantly... they went 0-2 vs the worst Duke team in a generation.

Decent leaves quite a bit of leeway.

I was watching Spectrum Sports Nightly.... and the anchor led off by saying this was a game where you throw out the record books.
