9:45 start against MSU

Honestly, I'd rather have a super late start time than some random slot in the afternoon. Allows for a regular Friday and then just lock into the game at night time. Also, for me, I was able to go out and watch the 7 PM games before heading home for the UConn game, so Friday night was a nice mix of socializing and being a hobbit-esque college basketball sicko.

I gotta say, both games I did a 15 minute halftime power nap and it was pretty glorious. By that time, my wife was asleep upstairs, so just 15 minutes on the couch with a blanket, the two cats, very nice.
How can y sleep. Unless we are up by 30 I can’t relax

Even in Buffalo those were sellouts but the UConn representation was sparse.

Boston was only a couple years ago, but I think it may have been the 2nd round and not the first.

I was at Worcester about 25 years ago. I made the drive up from Providence where I was living at the time and thought the UConn side of the crowd was not great given the proximity. Buffalo 3x UConn has played there when I attended. And I also caught the first round in Albany.
I was in Worcester, the crowd wasn't great because we played like crap and got beat by 10 seed NC State. We weren't even very good against 15 seed Central Florida in round 1. I honestly do not know how that team was a #2 seed.

It's unbelievable that we're 31-5, one of 16 teams remaining, have Mich State, then Duke or St Johns ahead this weekend.....and this place has a 3 page thread whining about the game being too late on a Friday.

My old man used to say, give people gold bricks and they'll complain how heavy they are.

And there is so much to be miserable about in the world right now, that I usually choose to be optimistic and upbeat about my hobby of obsession for UConn basketball. Just ignore them, they’re truly miserable!

The NCAA shadowed placed us in the west bracket.

This past weekend was egregious. There was no reason for a game in Philly to be ending at 1 am, especially with the San Diego venue playing on the same day.

This week…for a weekday start, it’s just a necessity that someone play the second game at 9:30-ish. There will be four games in that window over Thursday and Friday.
It should be simple. Just like every major sport, start games played in the East or Central at 7:00 PM. Earlier on weekends. Then schedule the 2nd game at 9:00, knowing it will tip at 9:30. Instead they start the first game too late and the second much too late. 3/4 of the country lives in Eastern or Central time and over 40% in eastern time.

The whole structure is broken.

@Flipside 7:00 is prime time. almost 10:00 is the late game nobody sees except fans of those teams. That isn't the "coveted slot".

on the East Coast, rush hour on the left coast

We are a national, if not global brand

Not many people west of KC/Dallas/OK/Minneapolis watch sports on TV. Not many people even live west of there.

It was a little surprising they got a 2 seed but they were playing really well to end the season. Postseason was a total letdown.

Duke plays at 7pm ... the opening act, that often commands the coveted late slot
We play at 9:45pm, on a Friday Night on CBS

We are the headliners for the night ... with success, often comes change, set your alarms
living in an alternate reality, I prefer the late start but a 9:45-10:00pm EST tip is not the marquee time slot

it is pretty late for East Coast, but how many times has one said that at a concert, waiting for the headliner (or do we want the headliner to play the opening slot at 6pm, so folks can get back home early)

end of the day, this is a business - if a customer can't wait for 2 more hours, to see a marquee matchup in the comfort of their home, then (the marketer in me says) that customer is likely identified to be at the Base/Silver loyalty level (if that), and we need to focus more on fans where we have a greater share of wallet and/or time, ha

Source please, not that that matters

Personally, I loved waking up at 7am in Hawaii to watch tournament championship games, and e.g. MNF at 6pm (for Happy Hour) in Cali; the fans are there, maybe not in East Coast numbers, but exposure/recruiting/branding is also part of this - at some point, the corner lemonade stand (that's comfy) expands to Costco to scale, compete and/or just survive

Our roster is made up of a lot more than just CT to OK UConn Huskies Men's College Basketball Roster - ESPN

Why, what’s going on in the world right now? I mean besides the NCAAs

we're on in primetime (for both coasts), on a Thursday/weekend, on screen in every bar/restaurant ... I don't see a significant downside

Memories of this post-Midnight gem

I was at the game . I almost literally had a heart attack . Incredible game and experience!!!
