9:45 start against MSU

.-.
The East Regional Final is the one to be at this weekend with the 1,2,3 and 5 seeds still playing along with a few legendary coaches. UConn, MSU and Duke fans travel in full force and SJ will be represented well.
CBS will be broadcasting the games so we should have Rafferty, Eagle and Hill doing the games.
CapitalOne Arena and DC will be rocking.

Uconn doesnt travel well like some of these others schools. They will fill their section tho, and few fans will be outside the Uconn section.

Just like it was in Philly.

I'll be interested to see if the St. John's fans (or Duke fans for the matter) or the DC locals root for us or against us.

I think this is overblown.

Historically UConn doesn't travel for the 1st round. It's always been this way even when the games were within driving distance. They will show up for the regional championships. Teams that rarely advance have fans that show up earlier. It's about expectations.

I got up at 5:45am for work today and no problem for me. A win makes it much easier to wake up early. Glad we won, and lets keep it rolling. We have the talent to do it.
So you woke up, logged into work p.c., then the BY. As it should be.

Whatever. I'd watch if it tipped at 3 in the morning.
I'll watch. It just makes it extremely difficult to do that anywhere but at home. I was hoping to out and watch with my old UConn roommate.

The late starts don't bother me nearly as much as Michigan St (3 seed) getting and extra day of rest/prep time vs. UConn (2 seed). How does the 3 seed get to play on Saturday afternoon and the 2 seed play late night on Sunday?

4 vs 5 days of rest should not make a difference. They were in Buffalo which was scheduled as Thurs/Sat before Selection Sunday

I work in a school so I'm a Mon-Fri worker. At least it's not Thursday. I can sleep in the next morning if need be.

Never did get the timing thing though. You would think that west coast schools would get more of the later times for ratings. Their fans are used to being up later, plus in theory, you would think the players would play better and that draws in more casual fans. The diehards are always going to be there.

we're on in primetime (for both coasts), on a Thursday/weekend, on screen in every bar/restaurant ... I don't see a significant downside

Memories of this post-Midnight gem

Ironically, not our only post-midnight win over Washington. When we came from behind to force OT and eventually beat UW in DC in ‘06 (before losing to Mason), it was also a really, really late night.

Our last second weekend trips were:
Boston (super close)
Vegas (super far)
NYC (super close)
Anaheim (super far)
Glendale (super far)

Obviously we traveled well for the super close and not great for the super far ones.

This one is kind of in the middle and will be interesting to see how much we show up.

I might be the only one who's relieved about the silly start time - I have a family event that I can't skip on Friday at 8, so I was worried I'd have to watch the game on dvr after
There is no such thing as a family event that cannot be skipped for a Sweet 16 game. That does not exist.

Similar to then, Sunday's game will most likely be an early (noon?) Tipoff.

I still view that as a contributing factor (one of many) in the result of the GM game.

Bottom line, if we're champions we're champions. We will be champions in the afternoon, the evening, after hours or in the early morning, it won't matter. It's there in front of us, which is all we could ask for.

I live in the DC area, but the cheapest seats for Fri are north of $500. Out of my price range. If we make it to Sun, I'll see about getting tickets then when more should be available.

I think it will be/should be a really good turnout. Southern CT to DC is only a 4-5 drive. Train options are available and probably the easiest way to go.
We have had a great turnout vs. Georgetown the last few years. Factor in Puke, SJ and Sparty being there fighting for a Final Four birth should provide the excitement to bring in the fans.
