My last one on this here. The anti union folks usually confuse union wages which are fairly market competitive with union work rules, which while negotiated, can be byzantine. It's the people who spout off without having a clue as to what unions do and why they exist, that ticks me off and as I said I am not in a union.

When it comes to the trades, union workers are better trained, safer, and produce higher quality work. You may think your being clever with the stock anti union rhetoric, but when your neck is on the line for millions in potential liability you go with professionals. If you want to hire a day laborer to clean up your yard, that's your (illegal) business.

Whether they suffer from corruption is another matter for each organization, which isn't any more or less prevalent than in corporate america or any large organization. In fact, if your an office worker, you may have no idea how much your company is making off you. I guarantee your union would know and see that you get your fair share.

Memorial Stadium is the biggest waste of space other than the Eco House. It's a memory well worth the $800k to get rid of.

Or what if people decide, hey, I have enough tee shirts and I don't like carrying concrete blocks?

I usually laugh at a lot of your posts, but this one really had me cracking up. Well done.

Union laborers make about $25 an hour and its not steady work. You are welcome to try. I doubt you'd last a day.

A lot of non-union work isn't steady work these days either.

I don't want to beat this to death so I'll stop after this post. My point is not to denigrate union labor. Unions, maybe. My point was that prevailing wage is ridiculous and simply another of many unnecessary burdens that government places on its taxpayers. If its OK with you as a businessman that's fine with me. Your P&L is your concern, not mine. I try to stay away from the DOL website--I'm retired and thankfully have no need to go there. Although the department has many fine individual employees, it's annoyingly political and goes where the prevailing winds take it. Anyway, it'll be good to get a BB practice facility and to have Memorial consigned to the dustbin of history. That's the important thing for us fans of the programs.

It's a good thing you wrote that DOL has many fine individual employees.

they should sell rows off the crapy bleachers for some cash. i know 2 posters on the fball board that would be all over them from a history of the program angle.
