Mea culpa, this is higher than I thought we would reach this year.

I expected that, like the last 2 years, we'd bounce between #15 and #30, maybe with a high water mark in the #12-13 range.

Say what you will about Hurley's roster construction and loyalty in prior years to the KO holdovers who, while good players and great people, weren't the best fit for how Hurley wants to play -- he absolutely nailed the talent evaluation of the newcomers and made the pieces fit together right away.

bama is the best squad that we've played so far. pretty good, but clearly they are a work in progress. check out their box against us -9 guys played double digit minutes. coach be trying to figger out who, from this pile of choices, are the 6 or 7 that he runs with.
plenty more to hear from them this season when he decides.
unc? not good. will they get better? idk.
whole lotta 'p-u' from the field, so far.

Still not understanding how the Creighton Barrels are ranked above us, but, whatever.

We play them twice, later in the season. It will sort itself out.
It's wonderful having two Big East teams not named Villanova in the national top 10. Nothing against Nova, but it's a positive for the conference to get new blood at the top.

Let's show all due respect to Creighton. They're very good, and UConn has zero victories over them since our return to the Big East.

UConn is 1-5 against UNC . 4 of those games were 2002,2003,2004,2005. The other was 1990.

We didnt exactly suck in any those seasons. Its "one of those things". We have "one of those things" with Kentucky. We beat some awfully good Kentucky teams. (4-1)
yeah I know the history, but those games have nothing to do with now. Even in 2004 UNC played their absolute best game at home against UConn and barely won with a late shot by McCants. Gregg Doyel, the CBS columnist that most Husky fans love to hate, even said after losing that game he knew UConn would be there at the end and I knew, too, as long as health stood up.

The only team that had a better weekend than us was Purdue. Moved up 19 spots after wins over Gonzo and Puke. I think we should be #6 but ill take #8 since we`ll likely be #1 after we beat Creighton to go 17-0.

It’s not just that UConn is 8-0. It’s the fact that they’re kicking everyone’s ass

As much as I wouldn’t trade 2011 and 2014 for anything, I want another season of full fledge domination. When UConn wins their next national championship , I want folks to say “Well or course they did”.

The Creighton / Texas game should be a good one. If we beat OSU we’ll move up higher since one of those 2 will have lost.

We also lost to them in the tourney in 1998 in the Elite 8. A game that if the ball bounced differently a couple times easily could have went our way. Of course, it was a home game for them......

Yes, I'm pretty sure when we played Florida in December we were like #9 vs. #12. And, ironically, despite us winning the game and Florida losing it, after that we went in completely opposite directions for 2-3 months before meeting up and getting the same result in April.

The new Bracketology on ESPN has UConn projected as a two-seed in the West (Arizona is the one), with a near-home subregional in Albany, which is looking very likely given how strong and deep the Huskies are. Love to see it. Also, if we can move up a bit more and grab a one-seed, the East Regional is in NYC this year. Something to be thinking about now!
