Steph says the team only had 8 team practices all year last year.
I know there was a coaching dilemma in SA, but 8 practices?
When college teams practice every day?
I'm not here to find out why they had 8 practices, Castle explains that well enough. But this just seems egregious.

Why would Dan Hurley dream of an NBA coaching job unless it's because it resembles a highly paid vacation?

(Cue a few Iverson "practice" jokes)

I highly doubt this tbh

I would bet he meant full team practices in season. Not including walk throughs, warm-ups, shoot-arounds, individual workouts, etc.

Would not shock me at all. I mean they play 82 games in about 180 days. With travel eating a ton of time as well.

Yeah that's true, just seems like they would have been unprepared. Maybe it's just the football brain in me.

And people wonder why all these achilles tears are happening in the league. The body isn't maintaining strength in between full-force games.

I can believe it. NBA "practices" are probably mostly just film, shooting drills, weights, and walkthroughs. Hurley practices are 2-3 hours of non-stop running. Vets get a ton of rest days. There's no way you can run college style practices and play over double the amount of games just in the regular season. Add in playoffs and yeah...

The Thunder played 23 playoff games. That's over 2/3 of a college regular season, just in playoff games. I know the Spurs didn't make the playoffs but still, their schedule is brutal

Really depends on the time of year and days between games. In the thick of the season, the starters and high-minute bench guys aren't doing much contact or conditioning.

This makes sense. I guess I never thought about it too deeply.
This is even more reason that I think Dan really is a college coach.
He is very much his Dad, and his Dad stayed at St.Anthony because he loved teaching. Dan loves winning a lot too so maybe he needs to fill that need in the league at some point, but he is so obsessed with process.
It's like asking a farm-to-table chef to go back to using freezers and Restaurant Depot
