They're playing better than anyone in the country right now. Their defensive intensity is very good and they have great offensive threats at all 5 spots, plus Masonius/Reese are fantastic off the bench.

Side note--Brenda should teach Reese to stop shooting layups from her shoulder level. For a player with her size and length she should be releasing the ball from a much higher point.

They been playing like this all year.
WARNING-compliments of Brenda and another freshman not named Paige is coming

As we all know, the BY does not take kindly to compliments of other coaches, programs or players as they view that as a slight towards our Husky's but this is a pretty impressive showing by the Terps and I am truly impressed by Angel Reese. How Brenda got this team to where they are and all on the same page from last year is worthy of the AP Coach of the year and why Naismith overlooked her is beyond me. Too back they can't play Georgia or Texas A&M.

There's a lot about her game that's very unorthodox which you can see as either worrisome or intriguing. She's right-handed but shoots FTs left-handed. She goes for steals whenever she can. And the release point is something she'll have to unlearn.

Note to Kristy Curry, you need to up your recruiting as this isn't Purdue from 2005 so that style of player didn't work then and doesn't work in 2021....

Hey! This is her first 2nd-round appearance (in the NCAAs, not WNIT) since 2006 at Purdue. Plans are already in the works for a spanking new banner in that quaint gym Alabama plays in, plus a statue of Kristy, plus an 8-year extension at double the pay. They stood by her for 8 years and their investment is paying off today

Yikes! Had no idea that Maryland was this good. Owusu has a different body type for her excellent skill set.

South Carolina does not have enough offense to stay with Md in a final 8 game. Get real physical and slow them down...maybe a close one, Stanford/MD semis would be outstanding.
I agree. South Carolina can’t score with Maryland
Not really surprised. Alabama didn't look good against an uninspired North Carolina team in the first round.

I don't think South Carolina will be able to handle Maryland.

What is Diamond Miller's average for walks per game?
It’s gonna be a problem should SC advance to meet the Terps.

People have slept on Maryland all year, but this team is a legitimate title threat. People talk about how they don’t play defense—okay, but can you defend them? ND got one title and was a free throw away from a second without a ton of defense.

Worth noting, Maryland's defense has improved a lot throughout the season too. Since their Ohio State loss they've held opponents to just 62.4 ppg and if you take out the Iowa track meets, it's 58.4 ppg.

I agree with you totally. Reese seems to get a lot of her shots blocked by shorter opponents too often. She also needs to pump fake to get a clearer shot at the basket. She rarely pump fakes. I’m sure she will work on this, she seems to be very easy going to take criticism.
