Interesting read...no relation to Kim
HS freshman invited to USA trials. Will be interesting to see how this one develops

Wow. 6'9''. At least her family is equally tall. It must be a challenge being a girl who's that height and navigating high school life.

Rumor has it that the International Basketball Federation (IBF) has hired Jeff Walz as their defensive specialist assistant coach.

Mulkey is four inches taller than any other invitee.

So it begs the question, who is/are the 6-5 U16 player(s)?

Beg all you want. This link has a list of all invitees, sadly, no stats accompany the names except their HS and hometowns..

But if you use this link, you will get stats....one gal 6'5", several 6'4", a buncha 6'3" players and of course, Ms Mulkey towering over all of them

And then you have Willoughboy who's 5 foot, 111 inches.

Standard doorways are 6'8", so if you're taller than that, you need to be very careful.

Mulkey and 6-8 McCowan went head-to-head in a game last season. That is some serious height.

<<She's about two of Kim.>>

But, the gold lame makes her appear THAT much taller!

(For you folks in Wacko, don't be offended.. the word only looks like "lame"... it's kind of a French word, (like in Looooseanna0... jes' think of the metal-look'n tight pants on them Friday night cheerleaders.)

Think her mom did a good thing moving her into the Cypress ISD. She'll get a lot of good competition playing in that area.

One other thing I don't think was mentioned in the article, two of her teammates are the youngest two of the Ogwumike girls. Erica (who just finished her soph year) projects as a Top 100 recruit last year in her class by HoopGurlz.

I didn't think that Hoopgurlz did top 100s until after Jr year. They do do Top 25s and Top 60s for sophomores and juniors.

Or was that all they released through ESPN?

Can't we get ONE of those bigs to come to STorrs...Sorry to be a broken record....but we need this to happen...

Our timing of having to play more games in the State of Texas couldn't have come at a better time........ Rady, are you sure she's no relation to Kim , of the same last name ? I seem to get the willy's and shakes over the last 2 years when I hear that last name. But I hope Geno has no such problem and goes after this Mulkey.

I understand that Kim Mulkey has sent her daughter back a few years via a time machine to play on Nancy's AAU team.... Just saying ;)

You are correct. Probably some projection on my part based on looking at their ratings vs the ratings of the junior-year Top 60. Both of the Ogwumike girls are rated on the Top 100 Watch List in their respective classes. In Erica's case she was rated 91 overall points and was also rated the 11th best guard in her class. Looking at the 2014 Top 60 -- a rating of 91 and\or a rating of 11th best guard would put you into the bottom 3rd of a Top60 class.

Although her sister is also on the Top 100 Watch List as a junior, if you look at the HG ratings, box scores for Cy-Fair and game write ups, she does not seem to be of Erica's caliber or make the same contribution.

But you are right, there is not an official Top 100 list of sophomores, so I changed my observation that she projects as a Top100 prospect.

Lauren Cox 6-4
Flower Mound, TX
Sounds like a baby Stewart.

Lauren Cox is also an elite volleyball player:

Lauren Cox, 6-3 MB, Flower Mound (Texas) – The Dallas NewsNewcomer of the Year and a finalist for state Newcomer of the Year according to LoneStarVolleyball.com, Cox had 152 kills and 84 blocks in 2012 on a veteran team with four college-bound seniors. Cox, who does not play club volleyball, is already being recruited collegiately in both volleyball and basketball. She could be the No. 1 volleyball player nationally in the class, noted one area observer, “if she would ever hang up the basketball shoes.”

Yeah, she's been on the Texas recruiting websites since she was in 7th grade. One other sport she participates in is Track & Field -- she runs the sprint hurdles and throws both the discus and shotput for her high school. You have to like the fact she is doing fast twitch sports along with upper body strength sports. I suspect that is part of the reason she seems to be very co-ordinated for a freshman. Whereas I was happy Mulkey was invited to the U-16 for developmental purposes, Cox really is a player right now and it will be interesting to see how she does on a national stage.
