5 top 15 at Maui

UNC actually booked a game with Hawaii tomorrow to tack on. Memphis played SF on the way out. Resourceful!

UConn did that a couple times. In 2005 they won at Pepperdine. In 2016 they beat Loyola Marymount. Hurley decided he didn't want to stop on the way out to Maui.

Yes, 9:30 am tip.
Schedule could be worse--Pearl feels disrespected drawing Iowa State in first round.
Pearl needs to concentrate on two things and not the tip-off time. .No fights on long flights. And beating the Cyclones.

I always stop for a day in LA or San Fran when going to HI. From Miami it is usually LA. That nine hour flight is just something I personally try to avoid. Especially as I get older.

Started going out there every year for work two or three times around 2003.

At their age not sure I would be concerned. 9:30am is going to feel early to play regardless since it would be early even for a home game.

So, whose idea was it to put the 2-time defending champs, #2 in the country, on ESPN at 2:30 in the middle of a work day? Are the prime time games that much more interesting?

Or, maybe I'm wrong, and Dan wanted the team to have the afternoon on the beach?
Yeah I never get this- I know it’s about tv ratings but haven’t we at least earned the right to be on in the evening. Same stupid thing happens in the big east tourney when they’re playing at noon on a Thursday. Now I have to dvr the game, not look at my phone and get out of work a bit early to watch it. Hopefully Tuesday game is at night

Flying there today direct. Hurley didn't want to stop over in CA like they've done on the way to previous Maui Invitationals.

I put my AV Geek mode on and dig a quick flight search. They flew Alaskan Airlines (AS9689) charter yesterday connecting at SJO in CA. :D

That makes sense as the 737 Max 9 flys about ~3300 miles maximum. Total nautical miles for a direct would be 4,300+.

Winner Monday plays 6 PM EST Tuesday--that winner 5pm Wednesday. ESPN.
To play four first round games Monday sequentially for ESPN, somebody has to play the early game.
