Feel bad for Vanderbilt - this is the 2nd season in a row that they've had major personnel on their roster out for much if not all of the season, destroying their season results. I think they were missing 6 players or something tonight, plus their top player Love had an awful 1st half.
I too am glad to see Saxton and Beal have strong offensive games. Both had career highs in points tonight, and Grissett a career high in rebounds (led the team with 12 swipes). Henderson tied her career high of 9 assists.
Staley has mentioned before the game in a press interview that she pushed her team to have a strong offensive start to the game - not too hard to figure with Vandy being hobbled as they were - but when the team responded, she pulled most of the starters with about 2-3 minutes left in the 1st period, and the reserves kinda stuttered and broke the flow. But they regained the tempo to start the 2nd half, and rolled from there. Top 25 Arkansas is next on Monday night in the CLA - they beat Florida tonight.
