Howard drained some late threes, but most came during garbage time and were meaningless. Her point total is deceptive. Clark did it when it counted.
I’m thinking that if UConn wins tonight, Clark may get a good dose of Aubrey in the Sweet 16. Aubrey is UConn’s best individual defender with the size and athleticism to reasonably contain Clark. It's a double edged sword. I don't envy anyone defending her.
Another of her trademarks. Definitely leads the country in garbage time points scored. Cuz god forbid she doesn’t get hers.Howard getting some mop-up points to the very last second of game.
There’s been a serious downgrade at the HC position. This season.
I’m sorry, the Cats are just not a good team and have been overrated since preseason. One good player does not make a good team
Yes initially. But UConn plays a switching defense and it's anybody's guess who at what moment will be on her.I’m thinking that if UConn wins tonight, Clark may get a good dose of Aubrey in the Sweet 16. And the Lady Vols are down 9 to MI at the half.Is it time to have the always burning conversation about how playing in such a tough conference like the SEC would make UConn a much better postseason team?
After all look what the SEC did to prepare Arkansas and Kentucky. No arguing with success!
Surely it’s time.
You just don't get it. It's like the Big 10 in the men's Tourney. The conference is SO tough, all the teams are beat up by the end of the season running thru that gauntlet. It's so unfair. Is it time to have the always burning conversation about how playing in such a tough conference like the SEC would make UConn a much better postseason team?

Well no cap this is exactly what some folks at VolNation were saying a few years back on the heels of UConn’s continued success after joining the AAC. “It’s so unfair they get to play in an easy conference and show up fresh in March.” People and their facile yet faulty explanations of the world. The conference is SO tough, all the teams are beat up by the end of the season running thru that gauntlet. It's so unfair.
There it is. Clark just wants to score, and Iowa winning 2 games in the Tourney is just a fortunate byproduct. Not to look past 'Cuse, however...Paige and her bud Caitlin face off if we take care of business tonight. I think Paige, both tonight and against Iowa (assuming we get by 'Cuse) will resist trying to match Caitlin's stats. Today Caitlin scored 40% of Iowa's points and Paige doesn't need to do that. Paige will want to win and not be concerned with box score comparisons.
Early in the season Caitlin was a stats player and Lisa in interviews later in year confirms it in an interview that she wanted to do it all herself. But, Caitlin also wanted to win badly and quickly learned to trust Czinano (Q4 Drake game) and as the season went along her assist number improved, her interactions with teammates improved, body language improved, with it all coming together in the Michigan blow out win where they played a complete game, the BIG, and now NCAA. She is that playa now, but it took time.Yeah. It's absolutely pure BS. Clark is not I repeat not a stats player like say Howard is. This kid is a playa who cares about her team and winning. The stats just come because she's just so darn good.
I don’t think Nika will match up with her. It’ll be CW who’s been guarding the other teams best player recently or Geno will give AG the challenge.Nika will have to guard her well.
Not denigrating Caitlin's game at all. She is a terrific ballplayer. Just opining that UConn has more scoring options and Paige doesn't need to score as much in order for us to win. Paige wants to win, period. She won't be sucked into a one on one contest with Caitlin. This is a good thing .There it is. Clark just wants to score, and Iowa winning 2 games in the Tourney is just a fortunate byproduct.
