3 of the 1s are largely set

SC has so many high quality wins it would take multiple losses at least to knock them out

ND has a few challenging games (Duke, @NCSt, Cal, h/a Lou) but will be comfortably favored in all. Could even absorb a loss.

UCLA has the fewest Q wins, but it’s the biggest of all — double digit over SC. A split with USC and 1 other loss prob keep them in.

That leaves the 4th. USC and LSU are the top two contenders. Maybe TX or MD or Duke if it can go on a run. Possibly TCU though the resume isn’t super strong.

UConn if it wins out would be in strong contention but that would include a win at SC. Any losses and they are a 2 or 3.

Really?

They are not losing those games (bold). And while Cal could be a very mild challenge (maybe--if their threes are falling) for maybe 1-2 quarters, Louisville won't be any sort of resistance for them.

USC almost blew it against Indiana today. I just have a feeling that they're going to falter down the stretch.

I think UConn has a better chance at a #1 seed than Maryland or Duke, although as Triad said, we'll find out about Maryland, Texas, and UCLA tomorrow. Good slate of games for King day.

Cal is ranked so they have a little potential. But I did say they would be comfortably favored.

I lost touch with how much Lou has fallen off.

My point was they have few challenges remaining and should be set for a 1.

One would have thunk that about Utah.

Or Penn State today for tOSU.

UConn needs to win at SC, at Tennessee, and all other games to even get considered.
That 4th #1 seed choice may go all the way to conf tourney champ games. Will be best #2 in SEC, or BIG, UConn if they win out, or possibly TCU/K St if one wins league&tourney and others stumble.

So, by that token, we should expect Notre Dame to lose to Virginia Tech?

While a slip-up can happen, I don't see it happening with this Notre Dame team. If they lose, it'll be to a team that is talented and playing well (like Duke). I honestly see them going 18-0 in the ACC this year.

The question is “who’s number 8.”

AP had tOSU #8.knew that was gonna collapse soon. Coaches poll had Maryland.

Gotta be TCU and/or K State champ will be. Number two if one of the Super Seven falters

Slip up for this team has already happened though ISU was thought to be good at the time

Notre Dame has two losses on the season (Utah and TCU--both pretty good Big 12 teams) but haven't lost since then (and I don't see them losing to any ACC teams during the regular season--tournament is a different story).

I'm unsure regarding Ohio State. I know they lost to Penn St (Penn St!!), but they were missing both of the Cambridge sisters due to injury).

Oops. I confused Utah w Iowa Staye as the second Big 12 loss. Emily says “ Nevermind.”

That shouldn't matter for a team that's supposed to be a conference contender. Certainly a team like Ohio State should be able to put together a deeper roster to withstand the temporary loss of one player. Penn State (I've seen them play a few times this year) is not UCLA.
