Here are my four keys to a good season in order:

1) Turnovers gained must at least double over last year. In 2012, UCONN ranked #113 in the nation with 12.

2) UCONN RBs must break more long runs. Last year Lyle McCombs had only 4 rushes > 15 yards and 3 > 20 yards. This is not just the O-lines fault.

3) Passing efficiency needs to improve to become middle of the pack in the NCAA. Last year, UCONN ranked #100.

4) Red zone defense must improve to at least a middle of the pack. Last year, UCONN ranked #107 in red zone defense.

2) Beating Michigan
3) Beating at least half the AAC
4) Beating our bowl opponent

Is anything less really a good season?

1. Improvement by Whitmer. Last year he missed receivers a lot and we know about turnovers.
2. Improvement by the o-line. Disastrous last year.
3. Sufficiently good conditioning and depth to wear opponents out with the no huddle. Did the players prepare adequately for this offense? You don't develop elite conditioning in a few months. ... Last year the team couldn't score in the second half. Do the no huddle well and we should do the bulk of our scoring in the second half.
4. Maintaining a quality defense. I'm confident here.

1. Better Ofensive line play. last year it was truly offensive!
2. Interceptions need to increase by at least one third. These not only stop the opponent but give the offense more opportunities and opportunities for a short field. last year we had the fewest in many years.
3. Catch the damned ball. We have had far too many drops over the past few years by guys who's main job is to hole onto the football.
4. Win the games that we should win. No Western Michigans or Temples this year. that is the difference between bowling and another 5-7 season.

1. Better O-line play

2. A new offensive philosophy

3. Someone has to step up as a second or third threat out of the backfield.

4. Find some way to utilize that huge guy Knappe to our advantage. (maybe not as important as the first three but geeze theres gotta be something he can do!)

The 4 keys:

1) GDL should not be near the field on game day!!

2)Better defensive plays - sacks, interceptions and knock downs.

3)Better QB production (We need a Danny O clone!)

4) Better receivers

CW could be good this year but hes not your #3. We may still have the answer you seek with a little seasoning.

OK now for some early grades:

#1 = F
#2 = D-
#3 = F
#4 = F

No more excuses.

3. No huddle didn't put any pressure on Towson.
4. Defense wasn't as good.

This is going to be a long season.

A long Season?? A VERY long season!! We are going to be 0-3 after Michigan, so I'll forget about seeing UConn in a bowl. I think the Fiesta Bowl was a tease and that Uconn knew Randy was leaving, the Big East was imploding and that people will be asking if UConn should be in the D1A.

I think the hiring of PP was a statement that the officals of UConn would rather play hockey and laCrosse - and give scholarships to those sports - then football. Mark my words, I'll say in 4 years you'll see UConn playing Lax.

So if I read this correctly you're saying there's no way we can have a good season.

Yes, we might have a good season -- if the Ghost of Bear Bryant was the coach!!
I wonder if we'll ever have a university president that merits having the football stadium named for them. Maryland's Byrd Stadium was named after their president, Curley Byrd. Legend, as told to me by my roommate in College Park, has it that when Bear Bryant's resignation as Terrapins head coach was announced the student body marched en masse to Byrd's residence and stood on the lawn chanting "We want Bear" until Byrd came out. He dispersed them with one sentence. "I want the Bear too."

Hell, I'd rather have a decaying corpse of Walter Camp on the sidelines of the Rent than PP. I'm not sure if college football passed by PP, or he knows that no matter what, this will be his last job.

My four keys:

1 - Get PP the F away from the football program.
2 - Get GDL the F away from the football program.
3 - Reinstate Foley as OL coach.
4 - Give TJW the keys to the program (for the remainder of the season).

Do this, we may at least should show a quality effort throughout the remainder of the season. If this was done six months earlier, we actually may have had a shot at a decent record.

Totally agree. There is nothing to lose as PP and GDL are gone at the end of the year anyways and you still have to pay them. There is no way that ANYBODY could do worse.
