and even considering the -36 for Whitmer sacks, we need a new RB.

Lyle still goes down on first contact.

Enough.

And who would you suggest replace him? I saw DeLorenzo and Hyppolite tonight too. We have nobody in the stable that can run apparently. Which either means that all three are bad, or the OLine sucks a bag of rocks. I'm leaning toward number 2....which is exactly what our offensive line is resembling lately...

Give DeLorenzo and Hyppolite more than just 1 or 2 carries. 1 carry doesn't give them to much of an opportunity. McCombs likes to jump around to much

Give Max a chance! People have written him off before seeing what he could do as the primary running back.

I think if we had a Donald Brown or a Jordon Todman all of a sudden the O-Line looks a lot better. It's amazing how much the threat of the run can slow a pass rush.

The thing with most teams, Louisville especially, rotate their RB's. Louisville uses at least three RB's in a game and gets more than one touches, the RB who shows more gets more carries. I don't believe McCombs is our best option at RB, I'm tired of seeing a 5'7 160 lbs back running on 3 and 1 every freaking time. At this point I want to see Max, Hyppolite, and Marriner

1000X this... We will never know under this lame coach. Does Weist have the same philosophy as Dracula? He supposedly has free reign on offense but I have not seen it.

We've been had, UConn Fans.

One good thing about the new scoreboard is that the running game futility is right up there in bright blue and white. Remember last year the running back coach answered the question about why only one running back by basically saying- no comment in a roundabout way. It's the PP/GDL show. We have no idea if Max and Hypolite can bring some pop based on one carry a game.

My point is that I believe that DeLorenzo and Hyppolite...and McCombs...are all competent running backs. It is the OLine that is making them look like they are incompetent. Until that OLine starts creating holes to go through in the forward direction, it will continue with any of the running backs in our stable. They're really good at creating holes for the opposing DLines to go through in the reverse direction, so they've got that going for them...

This. Donald Brown and Jordan Todman would look terrible behind this line too.

#UConn is 104th in rush defense, 122nd (out of 123 teams) in rush offense. Only 5 other teams 104th or lower in both categories

GDL's offensive coaching resume since 1999 (Syracuse DC in '98, spent year with Chargers in 1997). Since he's still coaching the line he bears a lot of responsiblity for the numbers above A lot. There's a reason he hasn't been unemployed in 40 years. . . . he must have a wonderful "incriminating photo" file somewhere

1999: Syracuse 80th in nation in total offense, 39th rushing, 88th passing (7-5 won-loss)
2000: Syracuse 52nd in total offense, 18th rushing, 92nd passing (6-5)
2001: Syracuse 93rd in total offense, 41st rushing, 98th passing (10-3)
2002: Syracuse 54th in total offense, 34th rushing, 79th passing (4-8)
2003: Syracuse 70th total offense, 26th rushing, 91st passing (6-6)
2004: Syracuse 78th total offense, 31st rushing, 100th passing (6-6)
2006: Temple 118th in total offense, 118 rushing, 98 passing (0-11)
2007: Temple 112th in total offense, 108 rushing, 73 passing (1-11)
2011: UConn 108th in total offense, 84th passing, 97th rushing (5-7)
2012: UConn 109th in total offense, 117th rushing, 64th passing (5-7)

Let's see: UCONN had 34 rushing yards, 349 passing yards yesterday against Maryland.

NY Giants had 23 yards rushing, 353 passing yards against Denver today.

I feel so much better now. NOT.

Thanks FD for filling in that gap. Ole Miss 2005: 111th total offense, 116th rushing, 79th passing.

Ruskin if you look at his employment record he seems to work for guys he knows...and except for P only stays a season or two..three at the max. Usually going there when the guy gfirst gets the job..like Orgeron at Ole Miss and Golden at Temple.

Indeed. The old boy network -- not what you know but who you know.

It happens in every industry - why does it seem to surprise you?

How was surprise conveyed? I'm not in any way shape or form. It MIGHT have been helpful if the hiring manager had casually asked PP in the interview who he was bringing in as offensive coordinator. The evidence suggests that question wasn't asked.

OK - it just seemed so because you keep asking how he has remained employed for 40 years. Sports are probably the most notorious for loyalty/patronage.
