First team as the last 4 in. Playing Oregon State.

Cincy last team as not in the last 4 in. How they moved ahead us by losing to Houston I have no idea.

Tulsa 2nd team out.

Temple an 11.

I know 90% of the board has quit on this team and this season, good riddance, I will never quit on the team and will keep believing we can do something special until the final buzzer sounds to end the year. Is that delusional? Maybe. But I love UConn.

Let's not measure our 'fan hood' chachi.... We're all fans.
Some of us just don't like to lose, and apparently more so than the bunch of clowns that were on the court last night.

Boy do I not trust that, holy smokes! I think the next 3 wins in a row would do it.

I haven't quit on them. But I feel like they may have quit on me. I am still hopeful they can pull together a strong AAC tournament and get into the dance, where they might even do some damage.

Maybe. But the next three games will tell us whether or not the players have quit, and if this coach has a pulse. You should spend more time speculating about that rather than pointing fingers at people on this board who choose not to join you in putting lipstick on the pig that has shown up on the court for the past two games.

I don't think anybody has quit on this team, but man last night was hard to watch. With our season on the line on the biggest stage yet to date, our team was out-coached, out-hustled and out-executed. I hope that Ollie can somehow right the ship, but if last night was any indication, it doesn't look good. Regardless of if we get Tulsa or Cincy in our first tournament game, that's an elimination game for both teams

I'm the real idiot here, after beating SMU I had visions of a 5 or 6 seed

now I'm thinking we're out, unless we win at least 2 more games, maybe 3

with 3 wins, we're a lock

but Joe said something very interesting last night, he said only 4 teams with legit tournament aspirations will be left out, the bubble is very small

of course, with some conference tournament upsets, that bubble can grow

If SMU wasn't left out a few years ago I would think winning UCF Sunday (with the bubble being so week) would get us a spot but now I think we may have to get to the title game of the AAC tournament to lock down a bid.

Seems very similar to last year. When is the last time Uconn missed two years straight? Been awhile.

We need to win the American tourney, plain and simple.

Last time UConn missed two years straight was 1988-1989. That's why I think all the criticism directed towards KO is warranted, because the talent on the team now as opposed to then is overwhelming.

Wasn't that more like 10 straight years? IIRC, we went to the tournament in 1979 and got beat by Syracuse. I believe we were out of it for 10 straight seasons from 1980-1989.

Another long drought was from 1968 (lost to BS College in the 1967 first round) to 1975 (made the Sweet 16 in 1976).

Since 199o we have not missed it for two straight seasons. I think the years missed were 1993, 1997, 2001, 2007, 2010, 2013 and 2015, all NIT appearances except for the ban year in 2013.

If we get in no one is going to want to play us...we are a double digit seed that can actually do some damage

Even under Calhoun, we missed the tournament every now and then. Every time we missed was because we were in a transition year, not because we didnt have enough talent or coaching. 2007 was a very young team that didnt even get selected to the NIT, but the core of that team went to the Final Four two years later. Just look at the following 2-3 years after each season we went to the NIT. Thats why it would really sting if we miss the NCAA Tournament two years in a row, especially coming off a national championship.

You know what, if this team can't find a sense of urgency, then they deserve the NIT, it's up to them to figure things out. This is what being a Man is all about, going out and getting it done. We'll cheer them on all the way, say what you want about the coaching and KO, but the hard truth is it's about the guy with the number on the jersey on the floor, he either executes or he doesn't.

Scenarios assuming winning vs. UCF.

UCF (W): 21-10, RPI 53, SOS 59

Quarterfinals AAC:
  • Tulsa (W): 22-10, RPI 45, SOS 54, vs. RPI Top 50 4-5
  • Cincinnati (W): 22-10, RPI 46, SOS 53, vs. RPI Top 50 4-5
Semi-Finals AAC (Assuming Tulsa in 1st Round):
  • Temple (W): 23-10, RPI 42, SOS 51, vs. RPI Top 100 9-10
  • Temple (L): 22-11, RPI 53, SOS 51, vs. RPI Top 100 8-11
  • East Carolina (W): 23-10, RPI 44, SOS 59
  • East Carolina (L): 22-11, RPI 58, SOS 59
Semi-Finals AAC (Assuming Cincinnati in 1st Round):
  • Temple (W): 23-10, RPI 43, SOS 51, vs. RPI Top 100 9-10
  • Temple (L): 22-11, RPI 53, SOS 51, vs. RPI Top 100 8-11
  • East Carolina (W): 23-10, RPI 44, SOS 59
  • East Carolina (L): 22-11, RPI 58, SOS 60
Finals AAC (Assuming Tulsa in 1st Round and Temple in 2nd Round):
  • Houston (L): 23-11, RPI 44, SOS 48, vs. RPI Top 100 10-10
  • Memphis (L): 23-11, RPI 49, SOS 51
  • Cincinnati (L): 23-11, RPI 45, SOS 49, vs. RPI Top 50 5-5
Finals AAC (Assuming Cincinnati in 1st Round and Temple in 2nd Round):
  • Houston (L): 23-11, RPI 44, SOS 48, vs. RPI Top 100 10-10
  • Memphis (L): 23-11, RPI 50, SOS 51
  • Tulsa (L): 23-11, RPI 45, SOS 49, vs. RPI Top 50 5-5
Also take into consideration that RPI Wizard does not assume these are tournament games. So if we play Tulsa or Houston in the finals, they do not get credit for the 2 wins that they just got to get there. Maybe add 3-6 spots for each game after the 1st round then? Could be more, not sure.

So I think our best bet is to hope for no upsets. If East Carolina advances and Memphis advances, the AAC might get 2 teams. Say Memphis defeats us in the final, I think they go to like a 12 or 13 seed (unsure) while the remanding AAC team gets slotted to the Last 4 Out and gets a play-in game.

I still would feel unsafe if we lost to Houston or Tulsa or Cincinnati in the AAC Final though. That's just me.
