2nd down @ the 25

We got a stop causing a 3rd and long, but Cincy was called for a 15 yard penalty (can't remember what the exact call was on). I watch HCBD quickly signal that he's declining the penalty and I think that my eyes must be failing me. Thankfully, we got the stop on 3rd and long, but I was confused as to why we wouldn't accept the penalty and back up UC inside the 10. Of course, it all worked out, but I'm just wondering if others in the stands were equally confused with the decision?

It would have been 2nd and 25 vs 3rd and 10. 50/50 choice.

The same play the percentages philosophy that leads you to decline that penalty would normally lead you to PPR at the Navy goal line.

Oh well.

It's brilliant when it works. It's stupid when it doesn't. Nice to see him make the right call. I do remember thinking this could backfire.
