I’m still surprised the consensus is that Solo is coming back. He’s 21, he won’t have a better shot.
Still a lot of season left - no point in rushing him off to the draft until he can sustain last game over the rest of the season. Teams are going to lock in on him now, let's see how he works through that. If he keeps lighting it up like that, then you may be right.

Indiana's Woodson is out at the end of the season. Not really concerning for us but something to keep an eye on in case Indiana U. manages to rope, say, a Billy Donovan.

Sure he will, he has a lot to improve on. He's not ready for the league yet.
Idk his shooting is the main thing that will get him drafted and i don’t think he'll ever shoot better than this

Why not? This is his first major playing time and he's an incredible shooter. It's the other parts of his game that need to improve to be an NBA player. We're starting to see some improvement in those areas but he still has a ways to go.

Billy coming back would be great for college hoops, in its shortage of coaches. It ain’t happening

He’s not going ANYWHERE. What is your confusion???

The recency bias that this board ascribes to players is beyond insane. We had Ross as a Reggie Lewis clone after a game against UNH and Stewart gone as a lottery pick after this year. You all are beyond insane

Im pretty sure he's coming back. if he goes pro he'll get drafted at the end of the first round and end up playing g league. NBA rosters are too deep these days. He can make more money in NIL at Uconn and play more meaningful games and make the lottery the following year. PLUS this years draft class is stacked and next year hell be coming off a better Uconn season.

30th pick in the draft gets $5 million guaranteed. He won’t be getting more in NIL. Plus if Solo is going to develop and add to his game it will be way easier to do in the NBA where his sole focus will be basketball.

Obviously the kid needs to go if he has first-round money coming his way. I think the honest question is can he get in the first round? His shooting is elite, but his passing and handle are not. And the entire defensive side of the ball is a mess.

If some GM thinks they can teach him to defend, he'll find a spot on a roster somewhere.

Is he ready? No.

I think he’s gone if he keeps up the 45% shooting, would there be any better shooters in this draft class? That shooting with his body and athletic profile/testing will make someone think he’s a value 3nD prospect in the late first/early second.

Selfishly I hope you’re right, he should put up All American numbers next year and lead us to another final four. But I don’t know why I guy with his profile doesn’t just make the leap.

Where do you think he gets drafted if he decides to leave now, and next year?

Not in the first round and maybe not drafted at all. His shooting is awesome but he's still far away in the other areas. If he tests the waters/combine his wingspan should be great for his size, huge hands, and should have a very good vertical but he's going to measure 6'1 and hasn't shown really any of the on ball skills or defense yet to be an NBA player and I disagree with people who think an NBA organization is the place to learn on the fly. Players who aren't close to ready get eaten alive up there.

I agree with this. Sending the Bronny's of the world to the league is a terrible idea. If you have a guy like Hawkins or Jackson who has the skills to compete but needs refinement, I think they've gotta go.

Very accurate post
The last thing I read regarding the NBA shows him as a possible late second round to going undrafted
I’m continually amazed at the view in this forum about the ease of getting drafted in the first round
Let alone drafted at all

Welcome to the Boneyard. Where a nice shooting game anoints a Husky a lottery pick. Or a freshman campaign playing sparing backup minutes with 1-2 flash games anoints a first rounder. It's truly clockwork. And when you say no, you're DOOMED.

I’m not really arguing whether developing in the league or college is better, I don’t think he’d be a good NBA player. He would still be drafted in the top 40 minimum if he leaves this year imo.

The NBA team will place him in that role. He’s an off ball shooter, with the physical tools to be a better defender.

I think this is over complicating it. If you’re a guaranteed first rounder(Hawkins) you have to go. Everyone else has to weigh the pros and cons of coming back.
