Mullins is small at 6'5" 180? He seems a good size.

He has height but he's uite thin. Not rail thin like Adams, but he's going to be a lot lighter than a lot of people he's defending. He's listed at the same size Hawkins was here.

Well Hawkins became a good defender by his sophomore year. I think Mullins will get more minutes and probably be just as good by end of the year. We do need some big athletes in the portal for sure.

No room for Furphy?
Not next year. I could be wrong but I'd be pretty surprised if he's coming in and competing on what should be a national championship contender day 1

Will be interesting with him. He's playing pretty decent comp in the NBL - Int'l NBA farm team for G-League level talent but younger dudes. I am with you on next year's team potential. PT will be earned. Has a rep for strong BBIQ

Too early for national championship contender talk. We would need a couple big pickups in the portal.
Too early but with the existence of the portal we should be in the conversation every year for a championship

IMO.. A decent NBA comp is Baylor Scheierman (sp?) ex Creighton guard/forward. Excellent skills-Facilitator-Not explosive/fast twitch player but makes up for it with deadly 3 pt shooting and BBIQ. Can play with anyone. Both lefties. Secondary ball handler that occasionally plays point forward

It's always a question of will the defense be good enough. That's where the minutes are earned. Mullins' offense will translate, but how will he adjust to the speed and physicality of D1. Furphy is either a gem day one or a 2+ year project.

I would agree, and I think that we wikl be, but this year kind of counterracts that idea.

No possibility of a Karaban redshirt senior year?
I would have laughed at this a few months ago, but now I kinda feel like it's not off the table...he's completely fallen off any 1st rd mocks and is back in the position of last year with a mid-2nd round pick possibility. Would probably make more money in college, and depending on who we bring in, he'd maybe get to vacate this alpha-role that's being forced on him, when he's clearly a (really freakin good) complementary piece.

Feels like one poster started this lie(in a thread discussing AK's position on mock drafts showing otherwise no less) and other posters have decided to follow suit

Does it though? We went into the year talking about the chances of a threepeat. And even now after missing on Mahaney we're a top 10 team with McNeeley who should expect to make a deep run.

Not saying we're going to be in the Final Four or actually make a run every year, but with the portal I think we should be approaching every off-season that way

The aggregate has him going #22. I hope that's the case but I just don't see it.

He's a good three point shooter but he's not a great shooter, he shoots a little better off movement now but his form still makes it difficult for him. He's having trouble guarding in college so I don't really see how he projects as a good 3 and D guy in the pros. He's just really limited athletically.

The three-peat talk was media and program hype.

Our sophomore class at the current time is not capable of producing enough to win at the highest level. Mahaney wasn’t going to help that.

We went in thinking it but the first sign of competition with a pulse we saw what happened. We recovered well but in hindsight Zaga, Baylor and Texas aren’t particularly good either. I think full strength we are 15-20th best team. Which i’d say is a step below NC contender.

I have no issue if you don't think he's a first rounder, for me it's too early to say right now and I think he will be a 4 year contract/2 years guaranteed 2nd rounder if he doesn't so bouncing wouldn't hurt him either way. My issue is I keep seeing posters saying he's fallen off every first round mock when its simply not true. It's posters projecting their own disappointment with his disappearing acts.

Maybe it was a bit of hyperbole, but the last few I've seen haven't had him 1st Rd (granted every idiot with a blog will be posting their opinion over the next several months)...not projecting anything just noticing the trend. I'd love it if he's able to get a guaranteed contract, but I'm acknowledging that what would have been an utterly ridiculous thought for him to return a few months ago probably isn't 100% off the table any more

I think this is a fair statement. I agree he hasn't fallen completely off of the Mock Draft's First Round status yet but based on his production and what he has done when the Huskies have needed him, I would think a lot of scouts will be taking notice and highlighting his limitations. If he had a ton of production to contradict his limitations then I believe there could be a better argument for Karaban remaining in the first round.

You have one of the first coaches to win back to back titles with very different rosters and in dominant fashion. He then went on a media parade demonstrating his methodology. The narrative built up that what he was doing was different and unique and that the staff is a collection of strategic geniuses and alchemists.

Maybe just maybe this staff happened to land an exceptional assortment of players including a carryover core of a 7’2” unicorn rim protector and a 6’5” do everything PG.

This staff is amazing, but success will always start with having the right players. Evaluation is hard, especially when you’re banking on development and who does/doesn’t have high upside. You win some you lose some and it seems some of that good luck on player selection has evened out a bit. Now the question is how much will he be willing to course correct in the portal.

Aaaah ! You’ve nailed it!!!

I’ve liked Burries for 2 years now, interested to see where he goes. We watched him a bit as a sophomore but he’s a bucket.

Pretty interesting that the SEC, given its aggregate performance the last couple of years and bundles of money, only has 3 players on the rosters.

IMO our portal needs are going to be a big scoring wing and the PG you have there. I don't think Stewart will be the starting 4 next season if Hurley can help it.

And IMO Mullin is the 2. Ball and Mullins both in the back court would be small unless we could find a big PG like Newton.
I agree with this. Our biggest portal need will need to be a 4 to replace Alex

They prefer to buy experienced players from the portal.
