I am rooting for WV here, mostly I want the shine to continue to dim on “savior Vic” as too much was made about him and his contract is ridiculous for a guy who has won nothing. He’s good but not THAT good. Go Mike Carey!

Bitter much?

Get your jabs in while you can in season one. There will be ups and downs and bumps and bruises along the way, but with a larger and (hopefully) healthier roster in season two, I expect much better results,

West Virginia always seems to be on the cusp of breaking through and becoming a top-tier team...then, it seems they fade down the stretch in recent seasons. This year's Mountaineer team seems solid. A win on the road would be huge for them.

What if Collier leaves, which I’m predicting she will.

Southie, I am not bitter as much as I am perplexed by the over-exuberance by some on "the Preacher". Your ADs are notorious "over-payers" for all coaching-Football, Softball, basketball... so to me, it's dumb money thrown away for very little pay back. So in that sense, I enjoy the very little return on the investment...I am absolutely comfortable in knowing Texas is not winning an NCAAT over the next 5 years. :D

Taking Mississippi St. to back to back Championship Games was pretty damn impressive I'd say. A whole lot of coaches have "won nothing" if getting a Title is the only way to be validated. How many active coaches have a 'Ship in their pocket? Half a dozen or so? (Geno, Mulkey, Tara, Freese, Staley........anyone else?)

edit--I missed Gary Blair, not bad for off the top of my head

Yes, that was impressive with a generational player like Teaira McCown. Just remember, Sherri Coale, CV Stringer and Gail Goestekors also brought their teams to title games with generational players without winning it all. Where are they now? Not contending....That's not to say Vic won't but to me, with Oregon, Stanford, SC, UConn and even Louisville loaded the next 4 years, I don't seen Texas doing anyting.

You've got a lot of generational players!

Of those coaches you listed, I think Goestenkors still had a high level of success at Duke even without Beard. Obviously she flopped at Texas.

We'll see w/ Vic. He built something from nothing at MSU. Texas is a school that kind of recruits itself, I certainly think he's a better coach than Aston. I think he'll eventually build them into something good, hopefully someone that can actually challenge Baylor on a regular basis in the Big 12.

Look, I think he’s a good coach but he’s paid like a super elite coach. He’s on the peripheral of top 7-10. That’s high praise but he’s not winning a title anytime soon. I have Geno, Dawn, Tara, Kim, Jeff, Kelly all solidly ahead of Vic. Then it gets murky with Gary Blair, Brenda, Wes Moore to name 3 more. But yes, at the moment, he’s 7ish.

You spend money to get results-where are the results (Present discussion on Vic excluded as it's too soon but I will be asking that question in 2022-23)?

So, I am watching this game on the LHN and I don't know who the women announcer is but man is she soft spoken-someone get her a cup of coffee or an energy drink...she's seems knowledgeable but man, no energy.

I would move Coach Moore up a couple of places, at least. He's doing what he's doing at NC State without a bunch of superstars (we currently have ONE McDonald's All-American on our team...and it isn't Elissa Cunane).

For some of the coaches you list, Mr. Magoo could coach those teams and still win, just based on the personnel they have.

Tara last won in 92, that is a long time ago.

Well, I did list him but let's see him make a Final Four or two to warrant being compared with the others ahead of him who have been to multiple Final Fours....Cunnane is his generational player so this could be the year for him. I would not put him in the top 6 at all. Is he better than Vic? No. But he could help his cause this year!

40-39 TEX end of half

Watch out when Collier shows emotion.

Collier 13 pts (5-6, 2-2 3P, 1-1 FT), 3 reb, 1 TO, 2 blk

Deans 16 pts (6-11, 1-4 3P, 3-3 FT), 4 reb, 1 ast

Schaefer gambled having his two best players in early foul trouble and playing them anyway. Worked out for him this time.

True. I was merely listing active coaches with at least one Title, not adding context of when or how they've done in general during their career.

Just found out that the leading scorer for WVU tonight is from my city... never heard of her before.:eek::confused::confused::confused:

Looked her up.. an article from the local paper says... "Kirsten "K.K." Deans is the best high school basketball player you've never heard of in the area. That's because the West Virginia commitment doesn't play for a NCHSAA or NCISAA school."
