2028 Recruiting: Giovanna Burress

.-.
Oh Plaxico. Storrs not all that far from home, which I like to think helps if UConn truly becomes interested.

Morgan Valley following Giovanna Burress, a 5-10 guard from New Jersey.
I believe she plays for Depaul Catholic in Wayne........she's been known locally for quite some time......the question is whether UConn will finally make an effort to recruit locally.......they've let Notre Dame grab the best of the NJ players since Aubrey Griffin.....

How has UConn LET ND grab the best? And Aubrey Griffin came out of Ossining, NY despite her father playing at Seton Hall.

My bad.........I stand corrected...... I should have said NJ/NY metro area players because she played in Ossining, just like Sonia Citron who I begged Geno to consider in my early posts, who played in New Rochelle........now add Olivia Miles, Hannah Hidalgo, plus Kayleigh Heckel, Mikayla Blakes, Syla Swords, Diamond Miller, Zoe Brooks, Madison St. Rose and others who went elsewhere......I also made an error in that UConn did recruit Gandy out of Gil St Bernards in NJ........

My point is that UConn didn’t LET ND grab those three kids. They chose to go elsewhere. Auriemma doesn’t recruit every kid for various reasons. However, I tend to believe there likely was initial contact with at least Citron but if the interest isn’t reciprocated then the recruitment ends. Not every kid thinks they will get PT at UConn. I don’t know if that is the case but Auriemma doesn’t just let other schools have kids that he really wants without competing for them.

You could be right, but I never got the sense that there was even initial interest from UConn in many of these players over the years.....

There may not have been. That’s why I said for various reasons. GA has always recruited nationally and not just regionally. And of course now internationally on a bigger basis.
