2027 Recruiting Question

Looks like RJ Moore jumped to #25 on 247’s recent update. I don’t have us offering anyone from the class yet but hoping we show some interest soon.
Also lots of bigs at the top of the board I am sure after we retool with the transfer portal we can get in with a couple 2027 studs.

Would imagine we will focus on the top PGs and bigs and then fill in with portal guys. Our cache of recruits is going to get smaller and smaller every year, I'd think.

We haven't had a live recruiting weekend yet. May 15-17th is the first evaluation weekend, lines up with AAU session 2.

Last year Abdou Toure's coach said UConn is very methodical in offering recruits. They want to do their homework. They want to see the recruits play a lot and they want to get to know the players.

In addition, UConn won't be casting a wide net and will probably only take 2-3 recruits every year. With the transfer portal recruiting high school players just isn't as important any more. I expect we'll start to see some offers out late spring and during the summer after getting a good look at the 2027 class.

The staff is working on the 2026-2027 roster as well as the 2027 recruits at the same time. They can multi-task. When was the roster for last season filled out? Wasn't it in late August?

Of course, the staff is always thinking about both. Moreso saying that it's hard to decide on offers and needs when the roster is still being finalized, plus the 5 in 5 rule change. HS recruiting has really been deprioritized by staffs across the country it seems
