Coach Valley now following 5-10 G Ashley MacCalla out of NY/DC.

MacCalla is ranked 36th by ESPN and 20th by Prospects Nation in the '27 class.

MacCalla is a lengthy guard who possesses an impressive work ethic and relentless drive on the court. She plays with a chip on her shoulder, constantly seeking to prove herself. MacCalla excels at attacking the rim, using her agility and quickness to effectively navigate through defenses. Once her shooting becomes more consistent, it will further elevate her status as an elite guard at the next level. Her fierce mentality & approach to the game give her the tools to become a standout player among her peers.

The third Freshman to appear on our leaderboards thus far, the best way to describe Ashley is an incredibly aggressive athlete. When you watch her, it's hard not to think she's playing harder than anyone else out there. It's also hard not to notice the speed and grace she moves with, especially in transition. She ATTACKS the rim on drives, and is super fast in transition. She consistnetly was the first one ahead of the pack when she ran in transition. She's also always in the mix for an offensive rebound, and she's good at controlling herself and going back up with it too. When she penetrates, she's attacking hard and will go right into your chest. Highlighted by a 6-6 performance in her final game, almost every single one of her points came right at the rim, showcasing how impressive of a finisher she is as a freshman guard. She had a couple hop step moves off a drive that looked very smooth, and almost surprisingly so. She's not just driving with her head down and throwing stuff up. She has already developed a couple of moves for when she gets inside, and she's such a good athlete that she could easily add more to that. Her first step is super quick, and with a little bit more spacing offensively she could really do some damage getting downhill. She's shown she can shoot a bit during the high school season, but as a freshman on 17s EYBL, she's already accepted a lesser role, and has picked her spots of when to attack like a vet. Her feel for the game, her length and her elite athleticism and speed will get you excited about her potential as an elite downhill attacker and finisher.
