Adding young talent is good... That said, the portal hasn't opened yet for most schools, and it'll be incumbent on Candle to adapt to the fact that he has better resources & better facilities and can aim higher than he could at Toledo for the Portal classes.

We have to trust the coach but two thoughts come to mind: Toledo must have had a really good class or we're becoming a MAC team.

DB hasn't failed us yet so I'm trusting it's the former!
We hired a very good coach from the MAC. He has to get bodies quickly, so he’s going to what he knows and who he has relations with. Don’t see this as an issue.

Mora did the same thing.

We have no idea how good these recruits are. I have no reason to not believe that these recruits aren’t an upgrade from the recruits that were previously committed under Mora.

see: Cade Millen for evidence

Stop please. It’s way, way too late in the recruiting season to be trying to fill your freshman class without looking at kids you already have a relationship with. You bring in the best freshmen you can, if in a year or two you determine they aren’t going to be good enough they transfer out. How about if we make no judgments on whether he can up the level of recruits he gets until next year?

I have little doubt the top players in Toledo's recruiting class can compete for starting positions at UConn.

I also have little doubt Candle and his staff will look for immediate impact players in the transfer portal to keep UConn strong.

I don't want to be a MAC team.
We lost a huge chunk of our recruits after Mora left. This at least creates a baseline for Candle, his future classes may even improve. Besides, we should be more focused on the portal for this upcoming season.

Toledo has put quite a few young men into the NFL the past couple of seasons. Additionally, there is quite a bit of talent scattered throughout the MAC, the issue is that there are so many MAC schools (specifically in Ohio) that the talent gets spread out quite a bit.

As we barely beat a .500 MAC school on the road and had a too close for comfort home win against a sub .500 MAC school, I'm not sure we've yet reached the point where we can start knocking the talent that a better MAC team has accumulated.

I'm confident that a contributing factor in Candle's decision to come here was that he believed we have a higher ceiling than Toledo, who has been at the top of the MAC for much of the past decade plus. I also believe that once he settles in, he will be able to bring in more talent than he did at Toledo.

One thing to keep in mind: prior to joining the Big East, Cincinnati, as a football program, was viewed at a level equal to most MAC schools. Once they joined the BE, they had an advantage over all of the Ohio MAC schools that they had been competing with in recruiting battles. We may be able to benefit in a similar manner.

Getting back to Logan, what is considered high end speed? I am guessing at his size it is a 5.0 to 5.5 40? Good endzone target and probably see a couple trick plays during his time here. I like this addition. Keep these Toledo targets coming!

I think the other important thing to remember is the following: we appear to be grabbing Toledo's highest rated recruits. Not their lowest rated ones or their mid-tier ones.

If we are grabbing the highest rated recruits from arguably the top MAC team over the last half-decade, then I'm feeling pretty good about that...

Legit worry. My concern is Candle has been living off the leftover scraps of a local hunting ground to build competitive MAC teams. Rebuilding a high level MAC won’t hunt here. But, got to give it time.
