Wouldn’t a commitment be backed by a NIL contract? I would think if both parties agreed on a number it would be in the best interest of both parties to sign a contract. The QB from Washington presumably because they held him to the contract.

What realistically would he gain out of going to Iowa aside from maybe money? Is he the kind of guy that would be a presumed starter there? Does Iowa need DTs that bad or are the recruiting him just for the sake of it?

I will also add: why did it take another school recruiting him for Iowa to suddenly gain interest? You’d think if they were that invested, they’d try and pull him before he made a decision.

That’s the kind of stuff that frustrates me if what I’m asking plays out. We lose a viable option for no reason and neither Iowa nor Olagbaju materially benefit.

Will that get him realistic playing time?

I’m just venting right now. The fact they’re now trying to flip him after no evidence of previous interest is what gets me.

My best guess is they missed out on bigger targets. They went back to the drawing board for their list of "Plan B's", of which he was one. They saw he was signed by us but figured they could outbid us since they have B1G money, and could pitch him that playing at a level like the B1G will make it easier for him to get noticed by the NFL.

I wouldn't say there is no material benefit for either party. Iowa gains D Line depth and a potential starter. I'm not sure what they offered Olagbaju but I'm assuming the money and potential to get noticed by the NFL is well worth flipping in his eyes, assuming he is in fact not coming here.

He’ll be close to home; stop taking things personally. You couldn’t even spell his name if I gave you the vowels
I usually don’t take transfers personally like that, I didn’t even get that upset at Mora leaving. This one frustrates me because of the random flip after commitment, that’s what I’m not getting past.
