2026 Recruiting Thread

We are not seeing much of an increase in high school recruiting. 2026 class ranking is 94 based on 247 Sports. UConn doing much better in the transfer portal.

Mora has done way better in the portal than high school recruiting.

UConn historically does not get many plug & play high school/prep kids but they do get big contributors with lower recruit rankings (Harper, Neider. Edward, etc…).

Mora views the transfer portal as similar to NFL free agency for addressing immediate needs, while high school recruiting focuses more on player/roster development and on building long-term relationships/culture fits.

Is UConn paying any revenue share/NIL to high school recruits or just to players they recruit out of the transfer portal?

Folks @ StorrsCentral have alluded that recent strategy NIL/Rev Share is used for retention of current roster and to attract folks out of portal - not for incoming high school recruiting enticement. Could it change as the pot grows - I guess.

it will be close to impossible to recruit 5 star and/or high 4 star without offering any revenue share/NIL. Also it has been implied the pot for football is now over $10 million. If that is correct UConn should be competitive against low P4’s and be a top 3 G5 program for revenue share/NIL.

I’m a firm believer from work life experiences in “never say never” but I’ll believe the $10m number only when it comes from David Benedict. I’ll be stunned if it’s anywhere over $6m-7m - which would still be more than double what was reported as available this year.

Dave has an expectation to share $18 million and then share full $20.5 million by the first year.

No doubt but where does it say the “pot for football is over $10m”?
If you have $20.5 million how much do you expect to spend on MBB and WBB? I would think you could spend 50% on football. Most P4s are spending 70%-75% on football.

The point is nobody has definitively said what the revenue share breakout across the Athletic Department portfolio is going to be… it’s all wishcasting by folks until it comes out of AD David Benedict’s mouth.

UConn will be spending 50% of that on its basketball programs, $7.5/$2.5 if I had to venture to guess on the split. From there, you’re left with $10.5 to spread and $6-7 goes to football with the rest spread across the other sports with the bulk going towards baseball and M&W hockey. M soccer and field hockey probably in that next tier.

Given how critical football is for CR why would you not be spending most on football team (at least 50%)? Hockey, baseball, and soccer have little impact getting invited to P4. Also in revenue generation biggest upside is on football.

Quayd Hendryx is a 5-11 175lb WR/K from
Burlington Township High School, Burlington New Jersey. Other offers from Bryant, Buffalo, Delaware, Monmouth, New Hampshire, Old Dominion, Rhode Island, Southern Miss, StonyBrook, Syracuse and Temple

Quayd was in Storrs on his official visit mid-June.

Picked up Nebraska, West Virginia and Minnesota after UConn Commit:

It’s a moot point until the actual numbers are reported. Criticism on percentages can fly @ that point (and in a separate thread so as not to send this recruit tracking thread off the rails).

I thought revenue sharing percentages had to roughly follow the settlement, ie 75% to football, 15% to men’s basketball, 5% to women’s basketball and 5% to all other sports.

There are no requirements on the breakdown of the revenue share. While it's likely to follow that kind of pattern, there isn't a requirement for it to do so.

So many of these kids have stars in their eyes and think they'll be as dominant in college as high school. Maybe he will but maybe he'll be our next Skyler Bell if he's not the star receiver in Minnesota in two years. Great to have confidence in yourself but............maybe Skyler's success will translate into better decisions for some in the future.

Now that the regular season is open, pretty sure our staff is now looking at portal kids for next year (safe bet nowadays, no?) with that in mind it'd be nice to get an idea of what our needs would be. IMO, I think we need a playmaker on O (WRs)... Bell was other worldly for us... We've got a decent supporting cast now, but we need to find a guy who can things like he did (production, consistent production)

Call me crazy, but, on defense, maybe we'll be better than we've been this year next year with some of the young pups coming off their redshirt.. Our defense, gives(gave) up tons of yards... tons (embarrassed TWICE on Saturday with FAU in 4th and forever and the QB goes over top of our D for TD passes... on 4th Down.. that is never good, albeit twice in one game)... but, at the same time, time is needed for guys to gel... maybe it's going to happen next season with who, hopefully, comes back...

It stinks we lose Skyler and Murphy at WR and Hansen and Honig at TE, and of course Fagnano, but we have Evers, Neider, Bowman, Porter, Smith, and Harper at WR, Vereen and a couple younger TEs, that got decent size and reps this year returning, as well as most of our RB room if D. Brown has a redshirt left to use and opts to come back. So I think for sure they look for a dynamic WR they can use the way we used Bell, and an experienced O-lineman or two.

But we have 5 key contributors returning on defense next year which is a big difference from the 2 we had returning this year. That being said we need to find some impact playmakers on that side of the ball, we can never see a team go for it on 4th and 1 from their own 10 in the 3rd quarter again. Total lack of respect for our Defense to do that.

My overall point is we are pretty set on O, so we need to really grab some impact defenders. Some plug and play LBs, some topend D-linemen, a rangy safety, and a lockdown corner.

I'm glad we signed a good kicker because that's an area we don't want to neglect either.

Maybe Evers will have improved; maybe porter will take the step we all want to see him take; Neider has been a pleasant surprise this year, hopefully he continues to develop.

You can't just call on them and call it a day. Everyone needs to be recruited over and you hope that they step up and it's 1A and1B.

With all the names that were honored at Senior day, it will be interesting to see who is still here next season.
