OVC - Western Illinois

Today's finals - SoCon, ACC, B 10, SEC, Summit, A 10 , B 12, Big South

#4 James Madison beats #1 Georgia Southern 81-53 in the Sun Belt semis. A bid stealer without even getting to finals.

We have our first bid stealer!
In March Madness lingo, "bid stealer" refers to a team that would not have gotten at an-large bid winning a conference tournament AND knocking a bubble team out.

I understand why you're saying it here, but that's not how I've ever heard it used.

Chattanooga was never in consideration for a spot on its own -- everyone in SoCon knew it was a one-bid league.
In contrast, if Creighton won the BET then they would get a spot and UConn would get an at-large bid, knocking out a bubble team (eg, Creme's last team in - Richmond) that would've gotten in otherwise. Thus Creighton would've "stolen" a bid from Richmond.

  1. Western Illinois 26-5
  2. Samford 16-18 -- good chance they end up in Storrs
  3. Duke 24-8
  4. UCLA 31-1
  5. Texas 31-3
  6. Rhode Island 28-4
  7. So Dakota St 27-6
  8. W Virginia 27-6
  9. High Point 27-5

I don't know how to feel when I see Rhody. When I see the uniforms and mascot.... I see a Chapel Hill Lite
I don't know, you've disassociated yourself with DePaul, and they are also blue and hellish like your team.

South Dakota St.

It will be their 14th appearance, all since 2009.
This is great news. They played at Gampel last season and won their first game against Oklahoma State, 74-68, scoring 50 points in the second half. UConn took care of them in the second round, but they are a solid program that deserves to be in the tournament.

Brooklyn Meyer is the real deal, with over 2,000 career points and averaging over 22 points per game this season.

Updated list (I'm a slacker):
A-10 - Rhode Island
ACC - Duke
Big 12 - West Virginia
Big South - High Point
Big Ten - UCLA
OVC - Western Illinois
SEC - Texas
SoCon - Samford
Summit - South Dakota State

Tonight's finals:
ASUN
Big East
MAAC
Sun Belt

No doubt a very solid program. Players have come and gone, but consistent results have remained. Their coach is over 1150 career wins, but a fair number of those were at the D2 level.

I feel bad for North Dakota St. though, seeking their first ever NCAA Tourney appearance and coming up a bit short. They had a very good regular season.
