2026-2027 Non con schedule

Out-of-state fan perspective ...

The last few years, NYC hotel room prices have gone (and stayed) through the roof, all season

vs (we play Thanksgiving in Vegas)

... 3 nights in Vegas = 1 night in NYC, near MSG

Suggestion to get on it now, book a No Deposit or Refundable hotel, pretty much a no-lose situation, but could be a huge thing if the game materializes, imho

I was in NYC in March and found a nice hotel in the meatpacking district for under $200 a night. They exist on Booking or Priceline. I found several of the like that. The one I stayed at was the Staypineapple Hotel.

Really hope Mara declares but Not worrying about UF until they get a new starting backcourt that’s better than fland/lee. Gotta do better than Denzel Aberdeen.
They were a little bit of a paper tiger of cards in retrospect, and I think Golden is a Top 20 coach, clearly below Hurley or May.

It's Vegas. You can have anything your heart desires. The only question is how much it's going to cost you.
So true! I'm not a big fan of Vegas because I feel like they're taking lots of your money for everything you want to do. Even something as simple as sitting down in a chair in a sports betting site.

.-.
And what’s wrong with that? Particularly when we get nothing for playing some difficult BE games across the season except potential Quad 3 potholes
Well, the answer is Houston - played Sweet 16 game in Houston and lost to Illinois.

So nothing wrong with us in Boston, it's not like we're playing them in Mansfield.

MSG is the best tournament host by far and saying that doesn’t make you “stale.”
Dunno - my track record for MSG not in luxury boxes is an altercation with a St. John's fan or two lately.

But while MSG lauds itself as the greatest on earth/the Mecca - from a fan enjoyment I prefer T-Mobile in KC or even Gainbridge in Indy.

So Duke (1) and UConn (2) in the east at MSG next year? Sign me up.
I would much rather get the 2 seed in the east seeing its in MSG than a 1 elsewhere, even if we need to throw a game at the end of the season.

.-.
Then let's beat Duke in Vegas in November/December.

That will settle it on Selection Sunday. UConn 1 Seed, East Region.
We beat Florida this year H2H. Fast forward to March and the national narrative was “that was a lifetime ago, Florida is better” and UF got the 1 seed.

Beat Illinois and then it was the same narrative when we met up in the final four. “Get ready to learn Keaton Wagler buddy!”

UConn is the only program that wins consistently and still never gets credit for it.

That narrative was heavily influenced by our stumbling towards the end of the regular season and conference tournament. We get plenty of credit.

Florida had 7 losses going into the tournament. UConn had 5. Plus the H2H win.

The media and public couldn’t wait to crucify UConn for a stumble. Part of that is the narrative that the Big East is trash. But the SEC wasn’t even all that this year.

Also who cares if you stumble late versus early? You shouldn’t get rewarded for starting poorly and making up for it later. St John’s didn’t get that benefit but Florida did.

UConn lost to two teams sub-.500. That has to matter.

Three of those 7 losses were UConn, Duke, Arizona, all close games. And their worst loss was to a bubble Auburn.

They got a good SEC draw, not playing the other good teams twice, and they racked up wins well. In retrospect, it seems clear to me they were overrated, and probably more of a 3-seed than a 1, but (a) there are other teams that didn't do what they could have, and (b), UConn didn't deserve a 1-seed with two losses to sub-.500 teams AND 3-seed advanced metrics.

Laughable. As always a “good loss” is better than great wins. Just like football.

I think the problem with stumbling late is the belief that the "stumbling" will just continue into the tourney and thus our seeding is affected.
Then again, it might not continue (See UConn 2026). 😉

Well we see where UConn and Florida ended up so it’s not like it amounts to anything anyways.

Our predictive metrics were way below theirs. We weren't playing good basketball while they were pummeling a solid, but not great, top of the SEC. They finished with a KP 4 pts higher than ours.

I don't buy the persecution complex. We got solidly handled by this year's equivalent of DePaul, and St John's boat-raced us. Not to mention we struggled (yet won) in several games against some very mediocre Big East competition. It's not the fact you stumble, it's who you stumble against.

Again, “good losses” > “great wins”

How do you explain a fair bit of AP voters ranking us 3rd or 4th in the final AP poll?

I actually didn’t have too much of an issue with our AP rankings and seeding this past year. I thought generally, we were given the benefit of the doubt, which we have rightfully earned. But it’s just crazy year in and year out, the Big East is right there at the finish line holding their own against the larger conferences despite having the odds stacked against them. ACC had what, like 9-10 teams in the tournament? By the start of the sweet 16, they had 1.
