2025 WNBA Off-Season

I would really like to see Azzi go to the Lynx. The Lynx need to give KMac a partner on the wing. BC is just not reliably scoring these days and Carrington is still rehabbing.

Dallas needs a center.
Betts or Fam

1. Dallas
2. Minnesota
3. Seattle
4. Mystics
5. Chicago

Betts at 1 would potentially be a massive mistake imo. I really do believe the wnba is moving away from that kind of center. That’s not me hating on Betts. It’s me watching McCowen, Cardoso, and even Britney Griner struggle to find roles last year.
I think this makes a lot of sense. Look at some of the best players - The tallest like Wilson and Stewart (especially Wilson) have expanded mid range and outside shooting games. The days of true back to the basket centers seems to be waning. Especially ones who are on the slow-footed side.

Betts will go high, but I think players like Fudd, Miles, Latson, and Flau'jae are potentially more valuable.

I think Betts is different than these 3:

McCowan-hasn’t developed her game at all since her first year or two. Doesn’t pass well and is a poor defender. Had a lot of upside that wasn’t realized.

Griner-is well past her prime, has turned primarily into a face up post rather than the dominant low post force we saw early in her career. She’s a legend but never came close to reaching her potential either IMO since she turned into a mostly passive player.

Cardoso-she put up 13.6/8.5 on a garbage team without a PG once Sloot went out. Her numbers improved toward the end of the year when Angel was out, too. I think she’s going to thrive if she can get a decent PG. Downside is she might be more of a passive player similar to McCowan and Griner.

I think Betts compares more similarly to Aliyah Boston. She’s a very good passing post and is very good defensively. Neither is lighting quick but both are strong with good touch inside and high basketball IQ. Betts face up game will develop over time. She has areas she needs to work on but she seems motivated and is improving in the right areas in college. Plus pairing her with Paige is a recipe for success and I think Dallas presents a great landing spot.

I agree. Betts is just not an overly dynamic player - Griner was notably smoother and faster in college than Betts is, and Griner now feels like a going-extinct dinosaur in today's W. As they say, you can't teach height, but for certain offenses Betts' skillset is not going to be overly helpful.

Not that the Valks will get a lottery pick, but I'd have my eye on Flau'jae. She can shoot from everywhere, she's fast, and she plays big for her size. I think her skillset is even better suited to the pros than college. Miles will also be good - she is sturdy and physical but she needs to work on her D. Latson is on the smaller size for a shooting guard, so I'm a little hesitant about how she translates to the pros. And I think Fudd will be a solid 3 and D player but the injury history and tweener frame give me a little pause. She's similar in size to Paige but Paige is way more explosive from everywhere.
