No it wasn’t about Talia. It’s about a guy who claims to be an insider and national scout/evaluator. Basically someone throwing things out and hoping they stickNo they’re not. They just tweeted 22 hours ago Talia is a must follow for WBB news.

Really? Missed that.
That sounds about right. Cotie is a great slasher in the lane and has a good midrange shot and rebounds well for someone only 6'0". A high energy player, she wants to be a leader but hasn't managed to her teammates to follow her yet. Her passing and her perimeter shooting are only so-so. This is where she can improve. Also, though she drives the lane effectively, she only really has the one move, the spin to her left, and opponents have clocked this and gotten offensive fouls called against her. All in all, there's a lot of room for improvement, but also a good foundation. If she's going to make it in the pros, I think she needs to prove she can play well in a structured system and do more without the ball in her hands. She's great at taking the ball to the basket or pulling up from midrange but her 3pt shot isn't strong (has only made 63 in her career) and she isn't a good facilitator. TCU/Oklahoma would be good choices for her. Oklahoma especially with Chavez coming in and Verhulst/Beers/Williams all returning.
Cotie, I hear Storrs is lovely this time of year

Sophomore to be. I followed her (Clara Silva, Kentucky freshman) in the FIBA tournaments when she played for the Portuguese U16, U18 teams especially6'7" Portuguese-speaking freshman, you say?
Breya is not a top tier post player in my view. Merkle is not even second tier, but she is big and maybe could learn in two years. Same for Silva: also quite tall, but not even as developed as Merkle -- still in the dreaded "project" range. Weimar is an utterly mysterious prospect, and Lattimore is a pretty good 2nd tier prospect. Only Serah looks to be a top tier post out of this list, and even she may need some work with CD and Jamelle. You're a legend @bballnut90
Very interesting list. IDK if Adia Barnes is leaving or retiring but I didn't realize all 3 sophomores were leaving. All have flaws but I like all 3. Cotie is a bit surprising. Ohio State had a pretty good year, just a tough finish to the season. Gracie Merkle is an interesting one as well. Can't teach 6'6. I was surprised about Clara Silva. I thought her and Stack would be a fun duo for the next two years.
It definitely wasn't Talia. The poster who originally put it up even deleted their tweet.Ok.
Pretty sure I saw the "pierre is transferring" news from her.
But I'll believe you.
To you maybe, but to me it seemed being in Ohio was important to her considering that's where's she's from. Why not? Seemed like an obvious one. Not getting better at Ohio state. And kind of underachieving as a program.
DHer full Portuguese name is a rather long multiple word "name". You
will see her referred to in various ways.
She's a really talented player, she just hasn't improved much in college aside from adding some range to her jump shot. I'd imagine she'll transferring to a program where she either thinks they'll help develop her for the pros, or where she has a shot to make a deeper tournament run.
Looking at top teams next season who need help on the wing, the only viable options are:
-Notre Dame (graduate everyone but Hidalgo/Koval, will definitely hit the portal)
-Maryland (probably not happening after she flipped off fans)
-Oklahoma (they have wings but she could step up in Vann's absence)
-USC (they also have wings but Watkins is likely out for the year)
-TCU (Connor is back, and they'll be good if Prince comes back for an 8th season)
I'm not the one who made the post you responded to, but I'm glad they did. This has been something I've been curious about for years. It captures the lineage in a way that includes both sides of the family. I think it's pretty cool.D
NOME Clara Sofia Vieitas Ferreira da Silva
NASCIMENTO/IDADE 2006-05-31(18 ANOS) PAÍS DE NASCIMENTO Portugal
Birthday/age. May 31, 2006, 18
Country of birth Portugal
Parsing Portuguese last names is an adventure, as they often contain both matronymics* and patronymics.***
Vieitas is her mother's last name. Ferreira is probably the last name of one of her parents' parents. Silva is her father's last name.
The order of matronymics and patronymics in Portugal is normally mother's last name first, followed by father's last name. In Brasil it is often the reverse.
Now aren’t you sorry you asked?
*
matronymic /măt″rə-nĭm′ĭk/
adjective
patronymic /păt″rə-nĭm′ĭk/
- Of, relating to, or derived from the name of one's mother or maternal ancestor.
- ***
adjective
- Of, relating to, or derived from the name of one's father or a paternal ancestor.
Whether playing for Portugal, Kentucky or other teams, she seems to consistently wear #17.

They will also hopefully have Watson if she recovers from her ACL tear last year but yeah, they will have many spots to fill.ND also have Prosper returning. They have 1 incoming recruit in Leah Macy. There are a lot of positions they need to fill. I can't even fathom how much time they're going to have to invest in the portal this off-season.
That's what I asked about either in this or another thread. She didn't participate in the 2019-20 season so she shouldn't be eligible for the extra covid year. I know Kennedy Brown from Oregon St./Duke was denied another year of eligibility for that reason. Prince has played 4 seasons and sat out 3 other seasons. It's unfathomable that she thinks she should get another year, or that there's any way the NCAA would capitulate.Prince can’t actually have another potential year of eligibility, can she? She could have had a doctorate by now already
Well, I can because I spend a lot of time on The Bench and here pondering just thatND also have Prosper returning. They have 1 incoming recruit in Leah Macy. I don't think Ali Patberg played that long and she had two medical years. That's what I asked about either in this or another thread. 2020-21 was the year that didn’t countShe didn't participate in the 2019-20 season so she shouldn't be eligible for the extra covid year.
Reporters said she wants an 8th year.Prince can’t actually have another potential year of eligibility, can she? She could have had a doctorate by now already
Macy is injured? I did not know this. What happened?Well, I can because I spend a lot of time on The Bench and here pondering just that
If Kylee Watson is rehabbing well from her ACL a year ago and if she's coming back.
- Yes, ND is losing: Sonia Citron, Olivia Miles (virtually certain), Maddy Westbeld, Liza Karlen and Liatu King.
- Things to contemplate: the physical state of Leah Macy's leg injury and Emma Risch's hip.
- The good news is KK Bransford is active and practicing with the team, so she'll be back.
So, factor all that in with Kate Koval, Hannah Hidalgo and Cass Prosper. Me thinks they should:
- look another Liatu King-type of player to be athletic up front;
- get another long-range shooter
- see how Macy is doing and possibly look at a forward with range.
- Lastly, is there a pass-first PG who can spell Ms. Hidalgo from ball-handling when Coach Ivey needs her to score, score, score?
I have ideas, but want to see who still comes out and if there are any answers. to those questions.
Ohhhhh. I cannot wait for this covid stuff to go away. Maybe in another 2 or 3 years we'll finally be done with anyone being able to claim the extra year. Hopefully.2020-21 was the year that didn’t count
